Customer Review: Perfect Whipped Cream Every Time

Whipped cream created with the iSi contains only what the user wants in it. If sugar isn't desired, don't use any. To make basic whipped cream pour in a pint of heavy cream which must have at least a 60% fat content to work properly. Add 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and if desired a half teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Screw the top on tightly and shake six to ten times to mix the ingredients. Place an N20 cartridge in the holder and screw it onto the canister (do this while holding it upside down.) The release of the gas can be clearly heard. Unscrew the spent cartridge. Shake the canister a few more times and then screw on the nozzle. Before dispensing the cream, turn the container upside down and shake twice -- then press the handle while the container is upside down. After that, each time before dispensing, shake the canister a few times. Recipes are included in the box.
The iSi is attractive enough to put on the dining table, which is handy when serving dessert. Before the iSi I'd whip cream right before serving dessert. This was inconvenient but eliminated my concern about the cream collapsing or separating which sometimes happens when it is prepared ahead of time. Besides taking time away from family and guests to whip the cream, the topping doesn't store well. The iSi permits just what is needed to be used and the remainder kept in the fridge for up to three weeks. Do check the expiration date on the heavy cream container, and use that as the definitive date. Also, toward the end of the period the charge may be gone, but if that happens, just screw on another N20 cartridge. Note that the cream whipper does not include the cartridges -- they need to be ordered separately.
The longer I own the iSi, the more I use it. It makes a great gift for people who love good food. It is unexpected, fun to use and most people don't own one so there are few worries of giving a duplicate gift.
