Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of iSi 10-Pack Soda Chargers, Gold

Customer Review: Great Product - Delivery (almost) perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

The CO2 cartridges for my iSi soda siphon are only available online. The price was fair.

My only complaint was with the fulfillment, which was not bad. But it wasn't GREAT. Which is the way you need to be in the Internet age.

1) Placed the order on a Friday afternoon. Within a half hour, get a confirmation that the product had "shipped." "Shipped" to me, means its on a truck, moving towards me. But it obviously hadn't "shipped", because UPS hadn't picked it up yet. Package obviously sits in warehouse over weekend.

2) Continuing to track the package - I see an "expected delivery date" - about ten days later. Now, the warehouse is in Minnesota, and I'm in Wisconsin. Unless UPS has gone back to using oxcarts, it ain't going to take ten days to move a package from one state to another. I know they say "under promise and over deliver" - but that is ridiculous. Of course, the package showed up on Tuesday afternoon - two business days after I ordered it. Please make your delivery estimates realistic. Sandbagging by an extra week just wastes everyone's time.

3) When it arrived, the packaging looked, well, unprofessional. It didn't have that crisp look of a world-class fulfillment center.

Note: I am in no way a dis-satisfied customer. But Target/Amazon need to work a few kinks out in their fulfillment process.

Customer Review: A grand tip-off
Summary: 1 Stars

Well, at 79 cents per charger (which provides 1 liter of soda), it works out that it costs exactly twice as much as buying a 2 liter bottle of club soda from our local supermarket (80 cents). That ignores the $5.58 per pack of 10 shipping and handling charge.

I called Isi to find a local retailer, and the customer service rep promised me that 'Linens and Things' routinely stocked them. A very helpful assistant at my local store had never heard of the items, and nor had the store computer she used to try to look up the item.

So, it's not even worth giving the Isi soda syphon to goodwill, as a likely recipient will be worse off than if they buy club soda in an unlikely to be recycled PET 2 liter bottle.

Note to self: Another good idea that didn't work out.

Customer Review: quality product, slightly expensive
Summary: 4 Stars

This is my first time using CO2 cartridges for carbonated water, and I have been happy with them. Like other reviewers have said, I don't get as many bubbles with this product as with store-bought carbonated water. But, I have been happy with the amount and the taste. I am thinking about buying another brand at a cheaper price, because at $1/liter, it isn't cheaper than store-bought soda (but it is healthier than soda, and cheaper than the store-bought carbonated water we buy). One advantage of this product over other CO2 cartridges sold on Amazon is that this product qualifies for free shipping, so depending on how you order, this may end being less expensive. I haven't done the math yet, and importantly, I haven't tried other products to compare it to for quality and taste.

Customer Review: I disagree with a few reviews
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm slightly perplexed by the reviews which state the following:
you don't get a litre of soda water (actually, that is true; you get nearly 2 ounces fewer than in a litre);
I didn't know I could use this cartridge only once (how did you think that you could use a punctured, once-pressurized cO2 cartridge more than once???);
with the shipping charge, it makes it more expensive than club soda (I guess the reviewer doesn't life in California, where club soda costs 1.79 a *plastic* bottle. Also, club soda has sodium in it--bad for you. It's smart to buy these cartridges 10 boxes at a time--that's what we do. It's quite cost effective).
the soda water is flat (that's often true, if the water isn't yet chilled. Once chilled, it's *very* bubbly).

Customer Review: Not Economical, Just Eco-friendly
Summary: 3 Stars

It clearly states in the description that two cartridges should be used for a liter of soda. That makes the liter of soda cost $2.40 (if you get free shipping.) Do not compare this cost to that of Perrier or San Pellegrino because those waters have finer bubbles, akin to Champagne, some of which (Gerolsteiner) are naturally occurring. This is regular soda, with large bubbles. I buy a 12 pack of soda in cans for $3, which gives me 4.5 liters. The upside to the cartridges is having fresh soda on demand, with less packaging, shipping space, and you can recycle the steel cartridges. However, it would be worth it to look for these in bulk.
