after all the BAD reviews I read on this product, I HAD to write in with my own experience. I had this thing for over SEVEN YEARS!!! I used it CONSTANTLY and the only thing that broke it was too much use and too much dishwashing (finally cracked the plastic). I am EXTREMELY rough on things (my husband is always fixing/replacing things I break - lol!)and this chopper went the distance for the price!! You get what you pay for so for all the bad reviewers, if you pay $13...you're gonna get a $13 item. If you want something super terrific, you may have to pay a little more and you'll get everything you are looking for. As far as this little $13 chopper, yes, it does have trouble going through pepper, tomato and onion skins. Garlic it chops beautifully except yes you have to take some time scraping it off the blades (same goes for herbs). BUT I have chopped raw baby carrots, cooked broccoli, ham steak, olives, celery, hard boiled eggs and more with absolutely no problems. As far as the previously stated troublesome items, for the time and effort you save chopping the "majority" of the item, to me, its no big deal to take an extra few seconds to scrape the garlic/herbs off the blades or quickly run a sharp knife through the chopped up peppers, tomatoes or onions to separate the skins. Again, for $13, you cant complain and I have put it on my wish list for Christmas because I want it again. I will suffer the next few weeks without it because I am having a baby soon and dont even have an EXTRA $13 to spend on anything but my baby right now (gotta love this economy!) but I'm sure someone in my family will be more than happy to get me this very inexpensive Christmas gift and I am totally looking forward to having it again!
