I recently purchased the Zyliss salad spinner after considerable research. It is my estimation that the choices are somewhere between good, better and best. My old Oxo salad spinner was good, no problems and it still works, but it is starting to look a little worn out so I thought it was a good excuse to buy a new one. I had looked at the Kitchenaid in the stores; it was nice looking, but a little expensive even after store discounts. Then I saw the Zyliss in another store and was intrigued by the new draw string design, it must have been the kid in me. Anyway, something different for sure, but would it be better?? After taking it on its first dry run test (no pun intended) I found it to be dummy proof. Yes, you need to hold the lid on as you pull the string, duh. The brake button took the spinning from 500 rpm to 0 in 3.2 seconds. Okay, I didn't really time it, but you get the idea that it stopped rather quickly. Because the lid is transparent, you can actually see the spin cycle in action, another plus for us salad spinner nerds. What else do you need? How about LED lights coming on as you take it for a spin
