Throw out all the other ice creams scoops you own and buy one of these. You'll be glad you did. You'll be impressed with how heavy it is. I'd definitely call it commercial-grade. The handle is comfortable and ergonomic, so you can scoop all afternoon at the 4th of July picnic if you want. The metal has some sort of magic coating that ice cream doesn't stick to, so you get perfect "scoop-age." One word of advice - if you put it in the dishwasher the harsh detergents will eat away at the miracle metal coating (the same goes for your non-stick cookware). A couple of years ago, my daughter won an ice cream party and received a Zyliss Ice Cream Scoop with the package. Everyone in the family who used the scoop wanted it because it was the best and easiest scoop we had ever used! In fact, I convinced my daughter to let me have custody of it. Although we had looked around trying to find others like it in our community stores, it was fruitless. Finally, I decided to look online and found the Zyliss Scoop. I ordered one for each of my four adult children and got a great deal with the 4 for 3 offer from Amazon! We've had this ice cream scoop for 4 years in the pink handle model. It's very easy to use and easily scoops ice creams. I was afraid of the coating deteriorating in the dishwasher, so we always handwash it and never leave it laying in the sink overnight in water. However, despite my efforts there are still spots of corrosion that appeared after a couple years of use. I don't think it affects the performance, but I'm slightly disappointed since these rated so highly and they seem so durable. I still would recommend it to others, but just know that handwashing won't prevent the eventual wear and tear of the scoop from happening.Customer Review: No more sore hands

I bought this after reading all the reviews. I knew I would not be disappointed despite the cons, and I was right. I was able to scoop rock hard ice cream with very little difficulty. It works much better than the ice cream spade we were using. No more smashed cartons from trying to get leverage to scoop.
Some people mentioned that the silver coating started to come off after washing. We no longer wash our ice cream scoops with soap. Instead we rinse with hot water then dry with a paper towel or soft towel. It is also stored standing up on its handle to prevent other items from scratching it.

This ice cream scoop is nothing like any other scoop I have or have used. It has a good amount of weight on the head of the scoop that seems to help with going into the ice cream. The handle fits perfectly in the hand and is made of a solid material that does seem like it will last even with a lot of pushing on it. What I like about it is that the front edge of the scoop cuts into the ice cream very easily and turns nice shaped scoops of ice cream. The way it handles makes it a breeze to serve even hard ice cream. I wish I would have bought this thing a long time ago.
