Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Sharp Duo Knife SharpenerCustomer Review: If you know how to use it, it's great Summary: 5 Stars
I am used to this type of sharpener so I had no apprehension in purchasing this product.
The only reason that I purchased this is because I left the last one in a restaurants
kitchen for a friend. These work very well because they create two cutting surfaces on
the blade. The #1 cut is deep on the blade, #2 is shallow creating a very sharp dual
surface. You can also keep your blade sharper longer by using the back of the blade to
scrape the food off of your board instead of the cutting edge of your blade.
Keep em' sharp, keep your fingers.
Good luck Brian
Customer Review: Fairly Easy To Use And Happy With Result Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a couple of Henckels knives about a year ago. They work great, but by now had gotten a little dull and I needed a sharpener. I read many of the good reviews about this sharpener, so I went ahead with the purchase with confidence and expectation. I used it yesterday for the first time, sharpening the 2 Henckels as well as my old set of kitchen knives. I noticed that I do need to put a bit of pressure on it as I draw the edge over the slots. Otherwise it is pretty straight forward and easy to operate. All of my knives are now sharp and I am happy with the result. Will recommend this.
Customer Review: Great Sharpner, Easy to Use Summary: 5 Stars
I have a number of Henckels knives. Not sure of the 'model' but they're called "Ice Hardened". Of course, also have other knives. I think the trick to keeping a sharp edge is sharpening the knife after each use. The sharpener is kept in a drawer by the knife block and my cutting area. Just take it out of the drawer, give the knife a few swipes and you're done. I had a Chef's Choice 120. Had to get it out of a cabinet, take it out of its box, plug it in and go from there. Just too inconvenient. Plus, it enjoyed eating my blades and it cost a heck of a lot more. It went to Goodwill.
Customer Review: Excellent Alternative to Chef's Choice Summary: 5 Stars
I have both a Chef's Choice and the Henckel's Twin sharpener. While I like both, I find the Henckel twin sharpener more convenient and easier to use than the chef's choice. Not only is there a significant cost difference but there's significant time saved using the Henckel. It takes less than a minute to pull the Henckel from the drawer and run a knife over its surface vs. five or so minutes to pull the Chef's Choice appliance from the cabinet, plug it in and then run the knife over its surface. The Henckel sharpener is an excellent choice for the cost and time conscience person.
Customer Review: Respectable Sharpener Summary: 4 Stars
My Henckel knives were dull ... make that VERY dull. I made multiple passes with each knife through the two slots on this sharpener. It took many more passes than the five recommended in the instruction sheet, but the knives got sharper with every pass. Considering how dull they had become, I think the Twin Sharp Duo did an admirable job of bringing my knives back to a point where it's a pleasure to use them again.
Another plus is that the sharpener's rubber feet did an excellent job of keeping it stable while sharpening the knives.
