Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Zojirushi BB-HAC10 Home Bakery 1-Pound-Loaf Programmable Mini Breadmaker

Customer Review: Easy Bread, Easy Cleanup
Summary: 5 Stars

Let me first say that I had never before owned or used a bread maker. I eat low carb and bought this one recently to be able to control the ingedients in the bread I eat.

Bread making is easy; just load the ingredients into the pan, lock the pan into the machine, push a few buttons (crust color, bread firmness, delay timer, start), and walk away.

I can set the timer, go to bed and have fresh fragrant bread in the AM. Since I am the only one in the house who eats the bread, the 1 pound size is perfect.

I love that the cover has a window so one can check on the process, as well as that the cover detaches easily from the base to facilitate cleaning. I enjoy being able to add the ingredients to the bread pan away from the machine and then easily lock the bread pan into the machine. It keeps the machine cleaner. The bread pan is non-stick so the cooked bread slides right out.

The kneading paddle is not easy to remove when the bread is taken out and it does need to come out for cleaning each time. That problem is solved by soaking the bread pan after use. After the bread residue that holds the kneading paddle on the kneading bar is softened with soaking, it slides off easily. Then, there is a small ring of cooked bread dough underneath that needs to be cleaned out.

The machine is short enough that it fits on the counter, under the cabinets, for use and storage, although due to the height of the cover, it must be slid out to remove and load the bread pan. It moves easily and does not scratch the countertops.

All in all, I am very happy with this machine.

Customer Review: Best Wedding Gift Ever
Summary: 5 Stars

I added this item to my wedding registry with the hopes of one day owning a bread machine. It was all I could hope for and more from a bread machine. I make bread 3-5 times a week and have had the machine for 8 months now. Here is what I like about this product:
1. Ease of product. From the timer to how the part go together it is simple and straight forward.
2. Small footprint. We live in a small apartment and the size of the bread machine made a big difference on which one we wanted to buy. (Some bread machines are huge and we could never get the space for them)
3. Quiet. This little machine is really quiet. I can be taking a nap in the connecting room and I don't realize it has switched to kneading.
4. Trust in the company. I own other products from Zojirushi (rice cooker and hot water pot) and have always been impressed by the quality of the products.

The only one thing I have problems with is getting the little spatula mixer thing out of the pan after a loaf is done. This is easily fixed by soaking in hot water with soap for a few minutes until it has loosened. I still feel this is a huge advantage over other companies that have their spatula too loose and the they come out with the loaf of bread. 1 family member had this happen and would throw out the spatula with a stale loaf and had to replace the part.

I are really pleased with this bread machine. We have made sandwich breads to artisan breads. Pizza night happens every week and we have saved a ton of money making our own bread. I recommend this product to anyone thinking of getting a bread machine. It's worth it.

Customer Review: So Far, So Gooood!
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow!

OK ... I have only made three loaves of bread so far ... but I can't believe how EASY it is to make FRESH, homemade bread! I have to say that so far, I am in love with this machine. Before this, I had never baked anything in my entire life! (I am 56)

I watched the DVD that comes with the machine and although the lady is pretty schmaltzy ... she is very thorough in explaining how to properly use the machine. I was able to make a loaf of simple white bread within minutes of watching the DVD and the bread was pretty darned good!

I am amazed that the effort involved in making fresh bread, literally involves less than 10 minutes from start to finish! No muss, no fuss ... provided you are careful with the ingredients. I recommend using wide mouthed containers for your flower. You'll find out why after the first use. :)

I am currently 2 hours into making my first loaf of cheese bread (minus the onions the recipe calls for ) ... and can't wait to see how it turns out. I bought this machine so that I could have fresh Challah and fresh Rye anytime I wanted ... but since I can't buy gluten ANYWHERE in the British Virgin Islands and can't find any Rye flour either, I have placed an order on Amazon for both ingredients and am waiting patiently for my order to arrive. :) I really can't wait. If the Challah and Rye breads are anywhere near as good as the plain white bread, I think I will be in heaven!

So far ... I can highly recommend this machine!

Must run now and watch my cheese bread as it rises. It's like watching grass grow ... but it smells a lot better! :)

Customer Review: Worth every penny!!!!!

This Zo Mini bread machine is simply the best. I had a bread machine before Hurricane Katrina flooding washed away everything we had, and I waited this long to finally get another one. I learned from the King Arthur catalog site that they used Zojirushi machines in their test kitchens, so i knew a Zo would be a good choice for me. Only thing I hesitated on was whether I should pay a little more and get the 2 lb loaf machine or this little one. Finally decided on the Mini, and I am very happy with it.

I've had it about 2 weeks, and made bread 3 times. It makes the perfect size loaf for 2 people. I would rather make bread more often and have it really fresh. This loaf lasts 2-3 days for us.

But,the best part is, the bread itself!!! It makes, hand down, the very best loaf of white bread I have ever had.....and I come from a family that baked homemade bread since I was a kid. The loaf was so soft and tender, and the crust was crunchy and perfectly browned.

The pan itself is a heavy one, which means a better crust, whereas my old machine had a lightweight pan. I never have a problem removing the loaf from the pan after baking, because I spray the stem in the base of the pan, as well as kneading paddle with a buttery spray before inserting the paddle on the stem. Works every time. Bread pops right out, and paddle stays in pan.

I also have a Zo rice cooker that I am very satisfied with.If you want a small bread machine that makes fantastic loaves of bread, don't hesitate to get this one. It's awesome!!!! And, Zojirushi sends a dvd with the machine, which simplifies the process for you.

Customer Review: experienced bread maker
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been baking bread for over 30 years, and also ran a bread business for a couple of years, where I baked 25 loaves of bread daily and sold them wholesale to a health food store. I have developed my own recipes which I like better than any others. My daughter was the one who got me into bread machines (why, I asked, would I ever need a bread machine?), and I have had a 2-lb. machine for the past four years. Actually, the bread machines do a great job kneading, raising, and baking bread, because the humidity and temperature are carefully controlled (as long as you don't open the top too much). Now that my children are grown up, it's just my husband and myself, and so I bought the smaller 1-lb. Zojirushi machine. The Zojirushi kneads more thoroughly than the other brand of bread machine I had, and the controls are very easy to use (just keep pushing the button until the arrow points to what you want). It is perfect! I use an electric knife to cut the warm bread, and can get 8 nice slices from the 1-lb. loaf. The hole from the kneading paddle is much smaller than the previous brand, and doesn't bother me at all. Believe it or not, I haven't run the regular cycle yet, because the 2-hour bread is so good. I can throw the ingredients into the bread machine in 10 minutes or less, and there's only the measuring cups and the pan to wash at the end. Now I'm making jam, too, in the "mini-Zo" and the recipe in the booklet is for 2 cups of jam. Easy and unbelievably delicious-I've made strawberry, peach, grape, blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry. Now I'm thinking of getting a second "mini-Zo"...
