First time doing the review for Amazon, so I will do my best to rate the item.
This is excellent item. I've purchased two of these item for myself. My friends saw it and they liked what I had, so I've order one for them as well.
I am using these mainly for the cereals dispenser for my family (2 adults and three toddlers). They do keep four different kinds of cereals (since I have two of these) fresh for weeks.
The minor modification that I think really need is the dispenser wings should be four instead of six. Because it has six, only few of the cereals comes out, and some of the cereals (like Frosty Frakes and same kinds) do break apart as they come out. So I modified the wings to have three instead of six by cutting every other wing. This worked better, but the draw back is that the wings does not cover (close) the dispenser hole completely. But it works fine and it does the job.
If the company made this product see my point and make the modification, they would save some $$ making this product and we as consumer can enjoy the same product at better price.
Other that this, this product is great, and that why it got only four stars instead of five.

We bought this to make getting cereal for our five and two year old kids less of a hassle in the morning. We are trying to teach them a little independence and self support. They were climbing up into the cabinet to get cereal on the days we eat cereal and inevitably the box would end up half in the bowl and half on the counter. Portion control, we feel, is very important to instill in little children to ensure they group up into adults that understand what a true portion is an not the typical giant american version of a serving.
The twist style dispenser with the soft rubber-like paddles are easy for small hands to turn. The crumb tray below helps, not eliminate but helps, keep the mess down. Each dispenser has a soft rubber cap to put back on the bottom to keep pest out or crumbs in.
The construction is what you would expect for the price point, injection moulded plastic is the main component.
Certain cereals work better than others. Flake type cereals tend to get broken up a bit while Cheerios or Corn Bran survive rather well.
All in all I would recommend this to nearly every one. It would also make a good dispenser for trail mix or something like that.

I actually purchased two sets of these dispencer and my kids love them. I love them for two major reasons, 1- nobody is carrying around and open cereal box anymore and 2- they make breakfast time alot faster. I like that they come appart so easily for cleaning and they look great sitting out on the counter. They have a cap on the opening so the cereal stays fresh and it really isn't hard to remember to put it back on like I thought it would be. The kids even remember to do it. I only have a couple of small issues with them. 1- that they are much more light weight that I thought they would be, which can be a good thing but when I go to put the cap back on the bottom I usually have two hands free to do it so I can keep from lifting the compartment out of the stand, and 2- with spring arriving we have issues with tiny, tiny ants in the kitchen and unfortunately, while no other pest can get into the cereal, they can. That is the only real reason I rate this a 4 rather than 5 in stars. Keeping the pests out is my biggest concern and finding the ants in the cereal was a little discouraging but I would still purchase them again, and just try harder to keep the ants away.Customer Review: do not buy - messy and poor design

I thought this was such a clever idea after I saw the single dispenser at Target, so I went online to Amazon and bought this double dispenser. What a waste of money. First off, it's BIG. The base is made form cheap plastic which has almost no weight to it. The individual cereal container DO NOT lock into the base at all, so if you pick it up the wrong way the containers go flying out, cereal everywhere. You would think for somethign recommended by parent as a choice that it would have better kid friendly saftey features - like lock in containers.
When you TRY to dispense cereal, and turn the dial, cereal goes jumping everywhere. If you use a short bowl it bounches out, and if you use a larger bowl it still hops out. We use it for Cheerioes and granola, so nothing too special. And the "drain" below each dispenser is useless. More estetic than anything else. It's a pain to clean the base after the cereal sprays b/c the granola gets caught in the back stand area.
IF i could return it, I would. Buy a better higher end one. This is not worth the money and I have zero clue how it won an award!

I love the thought of a cereal dispenser but this is not perfect. I've had mine for a couple years and I really wish they would alter is slightly to make it better. One, some cereals it does crush a bit. If you turn the dial in only one direction this will cut down on this though. To me, not a huge deal and I knew this was going to happen when I bought it based on reviews. What I didn't know until owning was the following. The rubber stoppers to seal the bottom will not stay on anymore. They just fall right off and that means the bottom is exposed and more likely to get dirty and is not as sanitary. I always hand washed them so I have no explanation for why this happened except poor workmanship and quality. The second thing is that these things make a huge mess! Even with bowls underneath the cereal manages to pop over the edge or out of the bowl. I end up having cereal all over my counter. This is a great annoyance. If they tweaked the rubber wheel inside and the bottom opening, they would have a great product. As it stand right now it's just okay.
