Customer Review: Keeping 2 Home Downstairs, Buying More for Up & Travel

My wife and I both read - she more than me, though. I got us each one of these for Christmas, and we like them much better than the itty bitty one and 2, and other new LED book lights. We both like to use these instead of our downstairs reading lamps - either the halogen ones or the incandescent Reveal bulbs, so I am getting us each another one for upstairs and travel. Highly recommended.
In fairness to other reviews here, there is a very small trick to putting the batteries in, involving holding them in place with your thumb or finger while you slide the cover on, but this is really not bad when you figure 1. you don't have to change the batteries very often, and 2. once you find the trick, it's almost easy.

Please seriously consider before buying the LED version of the Itty Bitty book light (model 10056) that you cannot replace the light bulbs. The product description gives you the impression that the bulbs will last for 10 years. Our experience is that they do not last that long and that once one of the bulbs burns out you might as well throw the book light out. When I notified customer service that one of my bulbs had burned out, they told me that there was no guarantee on the bulbs and that I had to buy a new one. I will tell you that we did not have the book light anywhere near 10 years. So please keep this in mind before buying this book light.Customer Review: Returned Zelco light 3 times-still bad

I bought the LED light and AC adapter in October of 2005. In June of 2006 I returned it because one of the two LEDs went out. Amazon warranty is only good for 30 days. Sent it to Zelco and they replaced it. A few months later the same thing happened and I again sent it to Zelco for replacement-they did. Then again! Just the other evening the "10 year" LED failed once more. Four times in two years! I give up. The reason I bought it in the first place was so I don't have to constantly change bulbs in the incandescent version. If you purchase this light be sure to save your receipt and set aside some postage!Customer Review: A great reading accessory.

I had the original "Iddy Biddy Book Light" for years. I finally got tired of using C batteries, and being tethered to the battery pack. I bought the LED Edition book light a few months ago, and I love it. The fact that it holds the batteries was worth the price. The LED lights are great. They don't produce any heat, and the light they cast is very easy on the eyes. I spend usually 1 - 2 hours reading at night, and I never have had any problems. I gave my wife the old book light, and now she wants and LED version for herself. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a book light.Customer Review: Also Disappointed - Product Failure

I purchased the Zelco LED booklight about 2-3 months ago. It was nice and bright, lightweight, very handy. Last week when I plugged it in, it burned out with no warning, just a bright flash and "that's all she wrote." Also, if you put batteries in the booklight, make sure it is also not plugged into the adapter, I had done this and the batteries started to corrode after a couple of days. From other reviews and my own experience, it looks like Zelco needs to redesign this product. I am a disappointed consumer.
