Description of Wusthof Gourmet 7-Inch Offset Handle Bread/Deli Knife
Craftsmanship has been a tradition at Wusthof for over 190 years. Quality and precision have always been the standard that we measure our knife by and our Gourmet line of stamped German knives take precision to a new level. Each knife in this line is cut from a piece of steel using a laser beam to make a perfect blade. Comfortable to hold and razor-sharp, the 7-in. Deli Knife cuts slices of cheese, meat and sandwiches with ease. The offset blade lets you get even slices in a single motion, especially with harder foods that require a little more leverage. The blade is slightly serrated so you leave food intact. It also provides ample clearance between the knuckles and the cutting board..A moderately priced companion to Wüsthof's renowned Classic forged knives, this Gourmet series 7-inch bread knife has the same full-tang, three-rivet, virtually indestructible poly handle as Classic knives. Instead of being forged, however, Gourmet series blades are cut from steel sheets by precision lasers. That means they have no bolsters. But it also means they are perfectly shaped and fit handles seamlessly. And the blades' high-carbon stainless steel is identical to that of Wüsthof's premium knives, only thinner. The bread knife has a raised handle for comfort when slicing through crusty loaves, making it easier to cut cleanly through the bottom crust. The knife is dishwasher-safe, but hand washing is recommended to protect its edge. --Fred Brack
