I had a cheapo garlic press of this type that surprisingly lasted a long time. It fell apart in stages and finally died. I looked through all the garlic presses ... has to offer (there are many!) looking for this type--with the little removable grates. I absolutely LOVE this garlic press. Even older garlic which isn't 'crispy' crushes easily in it. It's very well made and nice looking; easy to clean too. I imagine it will last much longer than my cheapo one did--and that will make me very happy! Definitely a GREAT gift for anyone who cooks with garlic.

Molded polypropylene handles are comfortable to hold and work with. Stainless steel components also make for easy cleaning without reacting with foods. It is dishwasher safe and includes two removable inter-changeable grids for coarse or fine mincing of garlic, onions or shallots. The Wusthof garlic press is solid and well-balanced. This tool is simple in design, but German engineered for function and ease of use. With the interchangeable grids this is more than just a garlic press.
