This sharpener is just an amazing value. I've now used it on a dozen kitchen knives (some of which had been abused and nicked), a few scissors, and assorted hunting and fishing knives. Basically, as soon as I got it I sharpened everything I had. It did a great job w/ all of them. When I bought it, I was fully prepared to toss it and buy a more expensive sharpener, but figured that for the price, and based on earlier reviews, it might do the job. It did.

It is nearly foolproof. Very easy to use. The only major drawbacks that I see are that you can't do serrated blades and it's small size makes it somewhat unstable. To me, the convenience of use and storage is worth the loss of stability and serrated knives don't need as keen an edge as regular blades. When I say it is somewhat unstable, I mean that you need to pay attention and make sure it is sitting on an even surface. The non-stick pads work and the design makes it hard to cut yourself unless you are just being completely careless. You do need to make sure the keychain isn't under the sharpener, but that's the only place a reasonable person could go wrong. For seven bucks, I'm going to buy another of these before I get one of the more expensive sharpeners. Highly recommend.

This Wusthof Ceramic 3 stage sharpening hone can easily bring those dull knives back to cutting form. The first stage is a course stage for cutting the new edge the next stage uses a fine ceramic to hone the knife to a keen edge.

Some knives are so dull they need a major edge reset; others are pretty sharp already but just need some fine-tuning. This handy pocket sharpener from Wüsthof does both. Clearly labeled Coarse/Carbide and Fine/Ceramic, the two slots on the sharpener let you know which to use. Set the edge on a dull knife with the carbide, then hone with the ceramic; or, simply keep your good knives razor-sharp with the ceramic honing slot. Non-slip inserts on both the top and bottom let you flip the sharpener for the slot choice and keep it steady on a table or countertop during use. The small size of the sharpener makes it easy to tuck into a tackle box or backpack, great for sharpening folding or filleting knives on camping, fishing, and hiking trips.
