My wife always bugs me to keep the kitchen knives sharp. I can sharpen a knife with a stone and some oil, but my sharpening angles are never correct and the edges are not long lasting. The Wustrof 3 Stage Knife Sharpener solves all of that. The first stage applies the correct bevel to a knife and the second hones that edge.
Every knife in the house, including small pocket knives are all sharp and easy to maintain. Now, with this tool, I can show my manly knife sharpener skills without frustration. I liked the thing so well, I have bought one for my 80 year old father-in-law who is the cook in the family.

I used to use a honing wet stone to do my knives and got this as a free gift with another knife set purchase. This is so much cleaner and easier to use and puts a nice sharp edge on my Wusthof Classic knives. You do see the metal filings coming off which means the blades are being trimmed down over time vs. using a wet stone, which just hones the edge, but using the steel keeps things in order for a while. I suggest putting a white paper towel underneath when sharpening so you can see/dispose of the filings. The verdict is still out how long the sharpener itself will remain sharp. I would buy this and recommend it.Customer Review: Impressed

I've been using the sharpening tool that comes with the knife set and have been unhappy with that. Obviously it's user error but the bottom line is it's not working for me.
I bought this because getting the angle right seemed like a no-brainer and it is. Out of the box, it took me 3 minutes to get the proper edge back on 4 knives and finish them with the ceramic sharpeners. They cut like a dream. Because it's so easy there's no excuse to not have a razor sharp knife at all times. Gone is the stress and concern of keeping the right angle and wondering if the tomato will be smashed when I'm done cutting.

When our old knife sharpener didn't seem to be having much effect on our knives anymore, I ordered this sharpener based on the reviews here. What a great little sharpener! I can't believe how dull my knives had become over time with our old sharpener (amazing what you can gradually become used to). This sharpener makes slicing and chopping a breeze again. It's very easy to use and takes up little space in the kitchen. I thought I'd have to buy a big expensive sharpener or take my knives in to a professional to get sharp edges like this again. This is the one. Treats the knives beautifully. Hones the edge. Quickly and easily produces an extremely sharp edge. This is the only knife sharpener I've used, out of many I've tried, for which I find no downside. Every other one I've used has had something I didn't like about it, even other Wüsthof sharpeners, but I like everything about this Wüsthof sharpener, especially how it treats the blade and the edge it produces, the two most important aspects. This is also the only sharpener I've used that actually can properly restore a neglected blade. You won't be disappointed with this item.
