I'm very pleased with the performance of this sharpener. I've previously tried sharpening my knives with the steel that came with the knives and with a Chef's Choice manual sharpener. The Wusthof sharpener left my knives much sharper than either of those methods. The scissor sharpener feature also worked well on my kitchen shears. There may be ways to get knives even sharper, but I doubt they could beat the price or convenience of this device.Customer Review: Nice Tool for Kitchen Knives

I doubt if this is the best thing for sharpening knives, but it's now part of my cooking routine. The old sharpening stone I used never got results like the Wusthof sharpener. I find the scissors sharpener somewhat difficult to use, but the coarse and fine knife sharpeners work well. About 20 - 30 strokes through each (coarse and fine) gives me a pretty sharp knife. I no longer hate cutting chicken wings! I think this is worth the money.Customer Review: Great Sharpener!

This knife sharpener works great! Took an old dull knife that I hated, to a sharp, useful knife. I would recommend it for ease of use; and is quite safe. It doesn't require you told anything at a precise angle like one of the 'rod' type sharpeners; simply hold it steady on the counter to tabletop and sharpen. I haven't had a lot of good luck with the scissor sharpener, but I figure that is due to the set of scissors, not the sharpener.Customer Review: Doesn't last long....

I am guessing most folks review this knife sharpener shortly after they get it.
I too was pleased at first. But after a couple of months of intermittent use this sharperner would no longer sharpen our knives. Putting the blade in at an angle brought some of the sharpening ability back but soon that also stopped sharpening. Looks like the sharpening elements get dull.
Poor quality product not meant to last.

This Wusthof sharpener is the best, easiest sharpener that I have found. Being an outdoorsman as well as an enthusiastic amateur in the kitchen I have indeed tried all kinds of sharpeners...electric, hones, ceramic sticks, Lanskky system, etc. This sharpener puts a sharp edge on a chef's knife and keeps it there. I've had no problem with gouges on the edge as described in previous review. At this price, how can you go wrong?
