Customer Review: Excellent for price, but sharpness hyped

My experience with these knives is a bit limited -- I used them at my parents' home. I recently bought Shun knives and did a side-by-side comparison. From reading the other reviews and my experience with these knives, I think it is appropriate to temper any hype about the sharpness of these knives even if my experience is not as in depth as other reviewers. I also will include general (longer term) experiences my mom shared with me about the knives in comparison to other knives.
It may be Wolfgang Puck brand but it does not mean it is a super sharp blade. Here is my simple impression of these knives: they are sturdy, comfortable, will last a long time, and hold an edge better than other knives in their price range. However, after a bit of use they are roughly as sharp as what you can get in a cheap (but new) set from Target. Of course a cheaper set would soon become much duller than these knives after use, however, the sharpness of these knives does not live up to the hype (the effort need to use these knives is substantially more than needed for a higher end set). But you can also look on another bright side of this set: you can sharpen these knives, which you cannot do with many cheap knife sets.
If you need a sturdy long lasting set for a good price, go for these knives. However, please don't read these reviews and think these knives are nearly as sharp as high-end knives (presumably not the intended interpretation of the other reviewers). If you are looking for an extremely sharp blade that will hold an edge for a very long time, you will probably need to spend at least 45 USD per knife, and the Wusthof Classic or Shun series may fit the bill.
