Customer Review: Finally found a new air popper

My West Bend Poppery II finally died; it must have been twenty years old or more. I ordered the PopLite because it had good reviews but had to return it. The heating unit was tiny holes in the bottom of the well and it shot my popcorn all over the kitchen. The West Bend Air Crazy is perfect. It has slit/holes around the sides of the well which makes the kernals revolve in a circle until they pop. A few kernals may pop into the bowl at first but only a few. The instructions said that gourmet popcorn does not work as well as regular popcorn and I use very small hull-less popcorn so that works for me. The unit did smoke a small amount the first few times that I used it but it did not smell like burning so I didn't worry. I did read in the instructions that some smoke may emit at first from the oils used in manufacturing the motor. I like the on/off switch but it is not a must for me. The unit is compact but adequate and will take up to 1/2 cup of kernals. I don't use the butter cup on top because I find it easier to use a small butter pan on the stove. I highly recommend this popper especially if you were used to using the old Poppery II.
