I have used this grill with great pleasure. It's large enough to hold enough food for 4 servings, plus the griddle comes in handy for toasting buns and such. I haven't had it smoke at all. It grills just like outdoors, including the grill marks. And I can have something grilled and on the table fast. No one has to go out on the deck to cook. It's all done on the countertop. I can't say enough good things about this grill. Cleanup is easy and fast, two of my favorite words in the kitchen. I did a lot of research and reading reviews before making this purchase. This is the best INDOOR grill that I've used. Obviously, nothing compares to an outside grill, but the West Bend has consistantly delivered (after grilling steaks, chicken, and vegetables). There is no smoke (I grill with a little water in the tray like you're supposed to and it actually works) and it's very easy cleanup because I just throw the grill and lid in the dishwasher (leaving the bottom out since it's plastic and doesn't even get dirty). I would recommend this to anyone in search of a good indoor grill (mmuuuchhhh better than a George Foreman or whatever, I have both).Customer Review: Not that easy to clean

I purchased this item after reading other reviews about how easy it is to clean. While it is nice that it all comes apart, it is NOT that easy to clean. It is too large to soak which is what it needs to get it clean. Its too large to put in the dishwasher as the spinning parts of the dishwasher would hit it. I have learned to spray it down with Grilling Pam and that helps with the clean up.
It cooks food wonderfully though. One of my favorites on this is fish. Its much better the say a George Foreman because it doesn't dry out the food like the Foreman does.

I was very surprised at how large this grill was when it arrived; way too large for my countertop at least; it just seemed like more trouble than it was worth; it seemed easier for me to just broil food in the oven frankly; I mean the only thing you are going to get from using this grill is the grillmarks on your food; nothing can duplicate the flavor of cooking on an outdoors grill; the size turned me off as well as the inconvenience of using the product. It is one of those products that you will use once or twice and then it will end up lost somewhere in your cabinets.Customer Review: Fantastic Indoor Grill

I've only had this grill for less than a week and I am already thrilled. I don't have any idea what the person who said it didn't get hot enough was talking about. I've cooked a steak and two burgers on it and I'm going to have to adjust my cocking times. They were all done in less time than on my Old George Foreman plus I was able to sauté onions and fry bacon while I cooked the burgers. I even toasted the buns on it and put a slice of cheese on the burger to melt it. Let's see you do that on a George Foreman. Absolutely love it.
