Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of West Bend 41135 12-Speed Stand Mixer with 2 Mixing Bowls, WhiteCustomer Review: Awesome stand mixer at a decent price! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this mixer and i got it on a gold box deal last month so it was affordable. (This review is based on 1 month usage. If things go wrong, i will surely update my review accordingly)
Pros:
1) It has 2 bowls. This is a great feature, cause u do not have to hurry up and clean up the bowl after one use and then use it for something else. For example, when i make cakes-some cakes need 2 bowls, one for the egg whites to be whisked and the other for egg yolks to be mixed with sugar. Other example: one cake is used for the cake mixture and the other one for the icing. in this case i do not have to wash the previous bowl and i let it sit in the dishwasher for it to be washed later. As it has 2 bowls of such different sizes you are free to use any bowl according to the size of the preparation.
2) The mixer comes apart and you can store it in any kitchen cabinet easily. When it comes apart there are 2 smaller pieces of the mixer which need lesser space and height for storage. This is awesome, cause it works for people with less space too.
3) Handling and Cleaning the bowls is so easy because they are not plastic or glass- they are made of steel..yaaay!! i love this feature too.
Cons:
1) The bowl does not move on its own many a times. I am guessing, it must be something to do with the functioning. Maybe some speeds have it and some do not! Well, i do not know but i am guessing here. The instructions say nothing about it! So I have to monitor it and move the bowl manually by continuously giving it light pushes.
2) The bigger bowl is very wide and short- unlike kitchen aid stand mixer, which seems narrower and taller. Because of this feature, we do need to continuously scrape out and feed the contents to the beaters/dough hooks otherwise they keep working in the same dough and leave the dry dough at the sides and other side of the bowl cause as i said before the bowl does not move many a times and it is very wide so it has a other side where dry ingredients can keep accumulating and not get mixed at all without manual help!
Lastly, when i received the mixer, i got one beater with a plastic piece at the tip, which i thought was for not letting the steel surface come in contact with the bowl steel surface. But the other beater had no such plastic piece. I thought i received a wrong piece, but i saw the picture of the beaters on the box, they came in and the picture clearly showed a beater with the plastic piece and the other one without it. I am mentioning this so that no other people would have doubts like i had.
Overall, its a great mixer and i hope it works for a long long time!
