Customer Review: Makes A-1 Deep Belgian Waffles /10 stars

The Waring Pro Waffle maker makes the best Waffles We have ever tasted, even from a good resturant.
Browned very even, and made the true deep Belgian waffles.

I set the number to #4.
We like them crisp, Not burned.
It took about 6 mins and a few seconds for perfect waffles.

I hate to say it, but My Husband and I ate the whole batch, with maple syrup, and powdered a little powder sugar over them.

Usually if a machine is new like this, the first ones are not good.
But this machine put out perfect waffles with the very first one I made.

When I first saw this, I thought, oh no, the plates do not come out and its going
to be hard to wash/clean!
Not so, I just took a clean sponge, and a damp dish towel, it took less then 60 seconds and it was clean.

Before I put the batter in , I used a silicon brush, to brush the canolla oil on the top and bottom plates.
I did that before putting batter in for all the waffles I made.
Nothing stuck, and there was no oily taste.

I didn't make the waffles that came in the intstruction book, as you had to let those rise.I used baking powder instead. I made Bannana waffles, and beat the two egg whites separatly, then folded them in to my recipe,I also used non-fat milk.
Next time I'm going to try Whole Wheat pastry flour, instead of white flour.

TWO THUMBS UP. This is a winnner.

I'm a pretty handy guy and I have some experience dealing with electronics. After my second one blew (the 1st one replaced under warranty) just 4 months later, I bought a couple fuses and figured no problem in replacing it. Stripped a screw (I have a PERFECT fitting tip...didn't matter), had to pry back the metal to an extent...just couldn't get good access to the fuse but was able to replace it. Couldn't get everything to fit perfectly back together and was worried. Yup...it was a valid worry. First "flip" and sparks blew.

Bought the similar model (same?) from Costco a month later. Why am I a glutten for punishment? Because this appliance makes darn good waffles! I have used it about twice a week since getting the first one. My Costco one blew at about 1 year exactly. This one threw sparks too...and this is NOT one that I tampered with. The first time the fuse blew it just stopped working.

This waffle maker is downright dangerous. Previously, I recommended this waffle maker and thought it was great because of the quality, but I can't blow $50-100 a year (or more depending on how long it lasts) to have a waffle maker. I know I should have just sought out a commercial appliance shop and bought a $200-300 commercial one. Maybe I'll do that now. At least I could return the Costco one for a full refund, but that doesn't do me any good with the Amazon one I purchased for about $90.

Honestly...just stay away from this waffle maker and find something else. I really wish Waring would get their act together with this waffle maker, but after 3 of them, each one newer than the previous, they haven't fixed the issue.

Customer Review: Easy, Tasty Waffles - for Awhile

Nothing says "Good Morning, Sunshine!" like a hot fresh waffle, and this is the easiest and cheapest way to make that happpen. There are probably a lot of fancy waffle mixes out there, but even a $2.50 box of Krusteaz tastes great coming out hot and just a little crispy. It takes probably 5 minutes to preheat the waffle iron (during which you can mix up your batter), then another 3 minutes for your 1st waffle to be ready. Pure breakfast nirvana in 8 minutes is hard to beat. Considering I have to double toast Eggos in my crappy toaster, it takes pratically the SAME amount of time!

The only major con is that you can only cook 1 waffle at a time, so if you have a big family, you may have to stagger wake-up calls. Other than that, this thing is almost perfect. The hardest thing is learning how much batter to use, but even if you get spillover, the removable spill-tray is easy to clean. The timer has never let me down, and I now have an almost Pavlovian response when I hear that little ding!

Unfortunately, there does seem to be one MAJOR design flaw. At some point, you are likely to burn out the fuse that controls the heating elements. The good news, it took me a LOT of waffles before this happened (I'll bring this thing in to work at night every couple months and make 20 or so waffles for our graveyard crew), and if it does it CAN be pretty easy to repair (you can find the fuse at most hardware stores and it's easy to replace yourself - it's under the lower "pan"). If that seems too much trouble, just buy another - at $60 it's a worthy investment.

Customer Review: Heats up reliably but is a bear to clean if it gets dirty

I have fired up the waring Belgian waffle maker about 7 or 8 times successfully, I have made perfect waffles about 5 out of those 7 tries. The keys to a successful batch for me are the following:
1. Prepare your batter ahead of time or just before you heat the unit (and plenty of it as this thing takes alot just to make one full sized waffle)
2. Spray or brush the nonstick surface AFTER HEATING, doing so first or insufficiently will lead to non heating grills, or sticking waffles.
3.Follow your batter directions and NEVER FORGET THE OIL in your batter.
4. Make sure the heat setting is where you want it before warming the unit, as the heat cannot be adjusted once preheated.

I like the included cup with batter line, and the fold away handle makes this unit a little less gigantic, but it is big. Fairly lightweight though so removing and putting away isn't too burdensome.
I had a really hard time cleaning this unit the one time I forgot the oil in my batter as the grills do not remove.
There are few things more comforting in the food world than a big warm cozy waffle and with a little practice this machine will have your churning them out for your family and friends. Also try a Belgian Waffle sandwhich with some some of your favorite meats, cheeses, and dressings for a twist.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
For years I have seen waffle makers like the Waring Pro in hotels and restaurants and have always wanted to own one, but could not bring myself to spend the money. When the opportunity arose to finally get one, I jumped at the chance. Not only am I glad I did, but so is my family.

This waffle maker makes the best waffles. Hot and crisp and perfectly shaped. I find it is much easier to use this waffle maker than others I have owned in the past. And there is less mess if used properly. You just wait for the maker to heat up, brush with oil (please do not use cooking spray), adjust the darkness of your waffle, pour in the batter, close the lid, flip, let it bake and wait for the beep to let you know your waffle is done. Just add butter and syrup and enjoy. Also if you do add to much batter, don;t worry about it. There is a drip tray that can easily be cleaned by hand in the sink.

I haven't tried using waffle batter from scratch yet, but plan to do so in the near future. But I have been using the Golden Malted Pancake & Waffle mix and it is awesome. The waffles come out perfect and taste just like the ones you get in the hotels.

I have to say that this is an appliance that will stay on my kitchen counter for many years to come and I plan on getting a lot of use out of it.
