This item is very poorly engineered. Mine broke after its first use. The plastic is thin and brittle and cracked along a seam of the waffle iron. Despite looking like metal this thing is in fact almost entirely plastic painted to look like metal. Usually you get what you pay for ... except with this thing, you don't even get that.
*Would rate 1 star but Amazon won't let me change my star rating now (My initial review was positive until I went to clean the thing and noticed it was broken!).

Overall this waffel maker is wonderful. Easy to use and easy to maintain thus far. I did buy the extra fuses so when they fail can be easily replaced (something these machines do) Don't allow that to take you away frome enjoying the waffels this machine makes.
I throw breakfast parties and without fail the waffels are the hit!
Two things (minor they may be) to mention that can be a downfall:
1) the steam/moisture seems to escape from the front near the handle leaving water at the base of the machine below the handle (easy clean up)
2)the base is a plastic material, very durable and lightweight but not metal in case that is an issue for anyone looking at this as a purchase.

Yeah, I got a deal on this waffle maker. I should have figured that there was a catch. Calling this product a "Pro" anything is a total joke. Waring should be ashamed of themselves and may cause their company more harm than good. The quality of the waffle iron is poor. The electronics fail suddenly rendering the iron useless except as a paperweight. I used mine exactly 4 times before the circuit board fried itself. That is when I started doing the internet research. If I had done that first I would have never bought this pig in a poke. The only thing positive I can say is that it did make awesome waffles the 3 times it did work.
Do yourself a favor, find a more reliable, better made waffle maker.
Customer Review: Worked great, Until the handle broke

I have used this for about 3 months and the handle just broke. It cracked. I glue it and it works for a few waffles and "snap" it breaks again. I never dropped it and I take good care of my appliances. I love the waffle maker when it works. It gets annoying to glue the handle back on after about 3 to 4 uses. It works, but reading reviews now, I am finding nothing but complaints about the longevity. I would say if you can get it cheap, under $30, it is a good buy. But be warned, you will have to make repairs. It is not restaurant quality. The design is very good. Easy to use and clean, but and a big "but" is the quality of construction. 4 1/2 stars for waffles, 1 1/2 for construction.Customer Review: makes a very fine waffle.

First of all this is a reasonably priced - very deep waffle maker. All baking services are teflon coated. The waffles release easily and come out properly baked. This waffle maker just does a fine job. It is also light and is easy to move around the counter - I found the thermostat to be accurate and the temperature recovery from waffle to waffle was very good. Yes one buy a 20 lb. maker for a lot more money but you won't get any better waffle!
