Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Waring WMK300A Pro Professional Stainless-Steel Belgian Waffle MakerCustomer Review: After the honeymoon phase... Summary: 1 Stars
With the first few uses, the waffles came out beautifully.
Soon after, every time we opened the unit after the beep, the waffles stuck to both sides, opening up like a book to reveal the white dough in the middle.
It didn't seem to matter if we put more oil on the iron or in the batter, or what kind of batter we used or how much batter we used, it would still stick. We used recipes, pre-made mixes, gluten-free mixes, etc. and they all stuck.
We had to be very careful trying to get the stuck waffle out of there, using a non-metal tool as not to scratch the surface. A couple of times we'd be peeling the cooked batter off for 10-20 minutes. We did learn to use less batter, at least the stuck waffle would be easier to remove.
Also after owning it for a while we became aware of a mysterious crack in the base. This unit was never dropped.
I've had this unit for over a year now, and have used it over 20 times, half the time hopeful but unsuccessful, the first few times must have been the honeymoon phase, and I wonder if those who give it five stars are in the honeymoon phase.
Guess we'll be "sticking" to pancakes.
Customer Review: Started out just great Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased the Waring Pro WMK300A waffle maker for Christmas 2009. Using the receipt that came with it we had a wonderful golden brown waffle breakfast. I had the heat setting a six. Followed by two additional waffle breakfasts using a box mix which were good but not as good as the recipe that came with the product. We then had weekend company which we promised a Sunday morning waffle breakfast. We used the receipt mix and set the heat at six. I made eight waffles and they were all under cooked. I even increased the heat level. What a disappointment that was. I plan to give it one more try then I will return it.
01/12/2010 Update; Tried it again, same outcome, So I returned it. Tried another one and the same results. Cooked golden brown waffles, great taste. tried it three times during 2010 but noticed a gradual decrease in the quality of the waffle. Had Christmas morning (2010) waffles and they were just mushy tried different temp. This is so sad, this unit is well designed, has a great power cord storage system, sturdy flexible handle, handy measuring cup and easy clean up.They just forgot to tell the designer it is used to cook waffles.
Customer Review: Not durable, makes great waffles for only a short time... Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased this item three years ago and used religiously every weekend for Breakfast and also for other "I'm hungry for a yummy waffle" moments, just because I love waffles. It made fantastic waffles for almost three years, and then in the middle of making waffles for the holidays, my waffle maker died. The heating element quit working with no warning and I had a horrible half-cooked waffle batter mess in the grates of the waffle maker and also all over the unit itself, including my countertop. I tried to clean it off - it took a long time, and then tried to work on the unit to fix it. I could find no place where a fuse could be changed and unfortunately there was no alternative but to put throw it into the trash. My family was disappointed they didn't get their Christmas waffles because they have eaten my wonderful waffle recipe in the past; however, all was not lost, I did make pancakes out of the remaining batter, but it just wasn't the same. Buy this unit with caution and expect good waffles for only a few years or less. Recent reviews from customers from other sellers of the product also complain about the heating element problem, it is not unique to my experience.

I've been so thrilled to have it that we've been having waffles for dinner as well as breakfast.
It is convenient to have some of the more basic recipes in the instruction manual, a few of which I've already tried to our general satisfaction :). The waffles are light which I attribute to the rotating griddle.
Only thing that is still a hang-up for is when the batter is too liquid and spills over; however the spill tray catches all and the waffles taste great anyway.
If you like waffles you have to have one of these. I had the old style, which didn't flip, for all my life (I'm 50)and often the waffles came dense and hard.
Preparation tip: don't bother whipping the egg whites separately from the yolks, they come out light anyway.
By the way, I'd planned a dinner and UPS botched the delivery. For some strange reason they couldn't even let me pick it up; by chance I'd gone to Costco that day and they had the same waffle maker for $20 less! I bought and used the one from Costco and returned the new, unopened one from Amazon the next day when finally delivered.
P.S. - it would have been worth the extra $20 anyway!
Customer Review: Best Waffle Maker on the Market Summary: 5 Stars
My family got into making whole wheat waffles years ago. We went through two or three $30 Bakers before we stumbled upon the Waring Pro. I read some reviews online before purchasing it and found a review comparing it to the Kitchen Aid. The reviewer favored the Waring Pro and seemed to have legitimate reasons. We bought the Waring and have never looked back. We made loaded whole grain waffles almost everyday for weeks on end until we would burn out for a little while and start on the kick again. The Waring never once failed. The design is so straightforward and easy to use. It does clean easy as well. I eventually perfected my waffle batter so that I did not need to use any oil at all on the non-stick plates and had no trouble popping my waffles right off when they were complete. This waffle maker did remarkably well with buckwheat batters too (the stickiest stuff in the world). The adjustable heat setting and timer with light are great for multi-taskers. About the only inevitable flaw is if you overfill the plates, you'll get batter oozing out when you close it. For the price, it stands head and shoulders above it's competitors.
