Customer Review: a great disappointment

I purchased a set of stainless flatware for my vacation home from Wallace with which I was delighted. Needing to replace the flatware at my permanent home, I ordered flatware with similar criteria from the same manufacturer, since the previous set was unavailable. I was extremely disapointed in the quality... the "hand" was poor, the balance even poorer and the workmanship was non-existent...the set looked to have been stamped and was not even centered on the utensil. I'm sure I could have found similar quality and at much lower price at a big box store. To top it off, I paid for shipping to my home and paid almost $20 to get the product returned to Barrons. Two lessons learned...pay attention to the ratings and always order directly from Amazon...Barrons customer service is an oxymoron.

Continental Bead 65-Piece Flatware Set. Set includes service for 12 plus a five piece hostess set.The understated patterning of the Wallace Continental Bead flatware has the ageless elegance of a strand of pearls. As a result, it is highly versatile, looking equally poised with a set of simple dinnerware as with fine china. Each piece tapers narrowly at the neck and broadens generously at the rounded end. The beaded edgework is fine and precise and slightly inset for subtle contrast with the smooth central surface. Crafted from 18/10 stainless steel with continental sizing, the line combines generous proportions with a pleasant weightiness in the hand. They have a gleaming finish, are dishwasher-safe, and never need polishing.
With 65 pieces total, this set is perfect for frequent entertainers and large families. It includes 12 place settings, each with a 9-3/4 knife, an 8-3/8 dinner fork, a 7-3/8-inch salad fork, a 7-1/2-inch soup spoon, and a 6-1/4-inch teaspoon. The 5-piece hostess set adds a tablespoon, a pierced tablespoon, a cold meat fork, a butter knife, and a sugar spoon. All the pieces carry Wallace?s 25-year warranty. --Emily Bedard
