You don't have to speak German to buy this plate; Wachtersbach is the name of the company that designs and crafts this plate. Now, there are over 40 reviews, and some people tell of problems, like a broken plate, but, I am reviewing this item because I really do own this plate. It has been in my possession for over 25 years. Coincidentally, I had dinner with friends some time ago, and there in the china cabinet was their plate, exactly like mine.
There are many ways of gifting someone with a heartfelt reminder that they are special. You could give them any gift under the sun. Gift-giving touches the hearts of the giver and the receiver. This special plate, simply says: "You are special today", in white calligraphy on red ceramic. While the story around this plate is that you or whomever receives this plate will begin a tradition of celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, Father's Day, Mother's Day, even your First Communion Day,whatever you celebrate, the person you are honoring will use this plate for whatever special occasion you are commemorating.
Since my plate belongs to me, I keep the memories of using it in my heart. When I buy my birthday cake, a delicious Black Forest Cake, I usually set it on this plate for the celebration. I could show you the photograph I took. If I would share the use of this plate, I could write on the back of the plate, the name of the person, the date, and the occasion of celebration. If I had my way, the plate would go from my house to yours,and back, and we would have to keep a journal of all the events that were celebrated with this plate. It's a stunning cherry red plate, and the idea of creating tradition behind its use is awesome.
