Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of WORLD MARKETING OF AM. HC451 DISC FURNACE HEATER

Customer Review: Good things come in small packages.
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this heater about three or four years ago. It has worked trouble-free since then. It is compact for easy storage when the weather is warm, and it works very well for heating a small to medium-sized room.

It has a cut-off switch, if it's accidentally turned over, and it has a variable heat knob with a thermostat. It is also possible to run the fan without any heat, for simple air-circulation -although my Vornado fan does a better job.

I must admit that if I had read a couple of the previous reviews of this product before I actually bought it, I might have been worried and maybe not have purchased it. But my heater has worked perfectly with many, many hours of continuous use. So, I highly recommend it.

As for company customer service, I have no idea because I haven't had to contact the company for any reason.

Just one person's experience. I hope this helps.

Customer Review: Careful ... Dangerous Fire Hazzard
Summary: 2 Stars

I had this heater several years ago. It lasted less than 2 years. I am not sure why it is being sold for $100 now when it only cost $39.99 at the local hardware store with big orange letters when I bought it. Anyhow, after about 2 seasons, the "ceramic" discs began to disintegrate inside and crumble. You could actually hear the broken off pieces rumbling around inside when you picked up the heater to move it. Eventually it began huffing out a very suspcicious burning smell whenever it was on. Tossed it into the dumpster. This heater is junk. I have an oil filled radiator from this company for about 5 years now and it gives off a lot of heat and works well, but the switch is beginning to distintegrate much like the ceramic discs in this heater. My guess is that they manufacture cheap junk. I wouldn't buy their products again.

Customer Review: Consistently poor quality
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought several of these recently, having had one for 8 years that we love and has worked perfectly. Unfortunately they have changed the manufacturing to apparently use cheaper components. Both heaters I got had or quickly developed problems. Customer service was very poor and I had to repeatedly call and email to get replacements sent - one of which did not work right out of the box. The other has an intermittent problem.

I orignally liked this heater because it was small, powerful, and - I thought - SAFE. But after numerous problems with recently purchased units - one of which was a burning smell and glowing ember inside that I luckily noticed before it caught fire - I no longer trust them and would never buy or use another.

Customer Review: Very Poor Quality
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought one of these expecting a high efficiency, high quality heater. I had an excellent experience with a Pelonis heater about 20 years ago and expected the same this time (2009). The fan on the heater was extremely loud, to the extent that it sounded like a bearing was failing. I returned that unit for a replacement which funcioned perfectly and to my full satisfaction for several months of intermittent use. One day one of the ceramic elements began to spark and then caught on fire. Only when I uplugged the heater did the fire subside. I had long since tossed my receipt and in disgust I tossed the heater into the dumpster. I would never consider replacing this heater in kind due to safety considerations.

Customer Review: Would be a great unit if it turned off.
Summary: 1 Stars

I checked with the manufacture before returning this unit for credit. The heater is designed go to a low power output when the desired temperture is reached but not to turn off. I like to leave a heater on in a small office to keep the chill off some plants during cool nights and weekends. So I don't forget to turn it on I leave the heater power on and the thermostat set to turn the heater on when the room gets chilly. With this heater not turning off the room gets way to hot on a relitivly warm day. With people becoming more and more energy concious I can't believe a manufacture would design a heater that does not turn off when it is no longer needed for heat.
