Customer Review: Loudest humidifier ever.

I've owned this humidifier for one week and will be returning it. This thing is very, very loud. The noise doesn't become tolerable white noise. The humidifier makes rattling, metalic noises like a diesel engine or a generator. I don't think I got a defective machine, and I wonder how this thing sells, period, much less for so much money.
Description of Vornado HU1-0022-06 Model 30 Ultrasonic Humidifier

Increase indoor comfort and, possibly, respiratory health with the Vornado Model 30 Ultrasonic Humidifier.The 2 gallon bottle capacity and 2.8 gallon output means that if the bottle is completely filled with water, the Model 30 Humidifier will run uninterrupted (i.e. without needing to be refilled) for approximately 24 hours on the high settings and 2-3 days on intermittent use. Humidifies up to 600 square feet.
