I just bought the latest model the 5000 and the machine is good but the price is quoted wrong. According to the Manager of Vitamix they add tax at all times so the price you see is not the price they charge at vitamix. If you go through ANY vender they always add extra claiming tax. So if you authorize the price they will attach tax in addition to it. Check your statement when / if you still choose to order. You will have to call your credit card company.Customer Review: Love the blender

I researched these blenders quite a bit and have found this to be all that was advertised. I purchased the blender to make vegetable juices. I have had juicers in the past but after a while cleaning up the mess made, I stop using it.
Vitamix mixes all of my vegetables with no by product. It is so easy to clean up after use and the motor is quite strong. I have read reviews that complain about the noise of the blender but it does not bother me.

Not as noisy as I worried it would be. So far seems to be working well. Not as good as the hype - I was expecting it to really liquify everything which now in retrospect was unrealistic. It is however way cool to blend things at 2 horsepower and I've been playing with it everyday.
Another problem is it tends to make a lot of foam - it's possible that using ice would mitigate that somewhat (I've been blending mostly fruit straight)

I love my Vitamix! It makes great smoothies that are healthy. The receipes for vegetable shakes and fruit shakes are really good however I tried to make the soup receipes and they were aweful! It tasted like metal because when the Vitamix gets to a certain speed it must give off a metal taste to the food. I do not recommend making any of the soup receipes. The rest of the receipes for veggie and fruit drinks are very delicious.

I have owned this blender for about 2 years and I use it almost every day for all sort of jobs. Smoothies couldn't be better, patés come out very nice, and veggies are chopped in no time. You can make super soups with it. If it ever overheats, it shuts off automatically; just put the motor in the freezer and off you go again. Clean-up is a breeze or let your dish washer do it. It's a dream machine that I could not live without!
