Our Vita-Mix kitchen blender/grinder has been in service for about 30 years---that's right THIRTY YEARS! It has NEVER been sent in and has been a great kitchen appliance for all it is designed to do.
I would agree that this product is noisy when running at full "turbo-engine" speed---sort of like a loud vacuum cleaner. So don't run this product early in the morning in your RV or close quarters at home. You'll wake up everybody!
Great for homemade soups using leftovers, making apple sauce, juices, and cold veggie drinks. A fabulous product, highly recommended.

This is a great blender! Yes it is expensive, but it is worth it! If you just want to make the occasional smoothie you might not want to spent that much, but even if you did you would find it well worth the money. And probably the only blender you will ever need to buy, it is strong and it lasts. You can make your own flour, it can blend all parts of apples, etc, skin and all. You can make hot soup, just by using the blender nothing else. And with the same machine you could make ice cream. There is millions of uses and it is super strong! I read all the Amazon reviews before purchasing this item and I was concerned about the noise. Yes, it makes noise, but its NOT as noisy as some reviewers make out. It makes the most wonderful fruit smoothies, margaritas, pina coladas, daiquiris etc-just like in the restaurants. My kids are eating WAY more fruit than they usually do, and it is quick and easy to use and to clean. My old blender had to be taken apart to clean, this one has only the lid that comes off. I love this machine-it is really worth the $.Customer Review: An incredible machine!

I bought the Vita-mix turboblend 4500 two months ago and have to say it is the most worthwhile appliance in my kitchen. I originally used it to make smoothies high in phytochemicals which require a 3 horse power motor. This does an excellent job pulverizing even avocado seeds. However, it purees soups beautifully. No need to add cream for a richer texture. There are a lot more possibilities for this blender which I am looking forward to discover. Easy to clean and maintain. I have owned this for over a year now, and despite all the rah rah rah, it is just a blender. It is a good blender but it will do for you what any other blender will do. Kitchen aid has better attachments for most anything you would want to attach, and most people own a kitchen aid so you would probably put an attachment on that instead of the vita-mix. Also this model doesn't have a variable speed so its either high/low, on/off. Well made but it can still get stuck with a lot of frozen berries etc...
