I contemplated for about a year before spending so much on a blender. I finally purchased it and have used it every day, several times a day and love it. I no longer purchase fruit drinks but make my own in seconds. I now keep organic frozen fruit and yogurt on hand, and this makes delicious smoothies. Soups? how simple when I come in late and don't feel like cooking. I eat much better and very rarely eat junk food, just drink a fresh fruit smoothie. Great for a breakfast smoothie drink too when sleep takes priority. Very easy to rinse out. It is worth the money. It will also scare the deer away. When my windows were open, deer heard it and took off; it is a little loud but no worse than some of my other appliances. Certainly should not deter you from purchasing it. I love my Vita-Mix and would buy another one if I had to. Due to various health issues, I was compelled to change my eating habits because I enjoy living and wanted to continue. Since using my Vita-Mix to make green smoothies to increase my fruit and vegetable consumption, I have lost over 100lbs, no longer have to take diabetes or high blood pressure medications and haven't had to take a sick day from work in over a year! Before, I was running out of sick time as I was out every month. I feel great every day and have been featured in an article in our workplace health & fitness newsletter and I lead a walking club at my job. I wasn't even a couch potato, I was under the couch! Now, I don't even have the couch any more..I don't need to sit with all this energy! The Vita-mix is a great investment in your health and worth the expense.Customer Review: Step up to the best

If you are in need of a new blender, don't even hesitate with buying this one! I have gone to cooking classes where the chef would continue to rave about his Vitamix and now I know why! It is so powerful it blends ice down in seconds! You don't have to worry about overheating the motor. Sauces and soups come out so smooth. The second best thing about it is it is so easy to clean! You don't have to take it apart - you would need tools for that. You just add soapy water and whip it up and give it a quick swish with clean water and you are done! That alone could be worth the price! You may even use it more often like I do now as I no longer fear having to wash it out! You can't go wrong, you will absolutely love it! Don't even think about prettier blenders unless you are more interested in how it looks than how it works.Customer Review: Vitamix Rules and here's why....

(Buy the professional Vitamix 5200 if you're going to invest the money!)
It pays for itself in food savings quickly.
It more than pays for itself in terms of health benefits!
And it pays for itself in time saved from it being so easy to use and to clean. Not to mention the frustration you'll avoid by having a blender that can't do everything you want it to do. (Ugh! I've been there and it really stinks! All of a sudden you've spent $80 and it can't do what you want! That won't happen -ever!- with the Vitamix.

Customer Review: Don't buy waste of money and Energy

We bought the Vitamix 5000 about 1 1/2 years ago. Since then we had only trouble with the machine. With the easiest load the motor shuts off and I have to put it in the fridge, because it gets overheated. Despite returning it 3 times for repair the issue is still not resolved!
I then asked for our money back but Vitamix's customer service was very unfriendly and refused to refund.
To anyone who wants to buy one: Don't do it!!! You have only trouble and the customer service really sucks. Save yourself some trouble... I'm not a review writer but that Vitamix matter was really annoying. I just wanted to let you know what we ran into.
We are most likely looking at the BlendTec instead hoping that a) it actually works and b) we get better service in case we do need it.
