My husband and I recently returned from a lovely tour of the Sonoma Valley. At the Dry Creek Vineyard, we asked to taste "Endeavor", one of the more expensive red blends they do. The woman pouring said she'd have to open a new bottle; and that we couldn't fully appreciate the nuances of the wine unless it had time to "breathe". As we still wanted to try it, we said we didn't care. So we tasted the wine from the newly-opened bottle and thought it was lovely. Anyway, she said, now try it like this: and she poured the wine through the Vinturi Wine Aerator. WOW! It was like drinking two different wines! And the second taste was phenomenal. We noticed that the price in all the wine shops varied anywhere from $40-$60, and got ours on Amazon for $30. This is so worth it if you like wine.Customer Review: Simply Amazing

First of all I don't usually write reviews, but a great friend (who doesn't even drink wine) gave us one of these last night. Every person who drinks wine should own one of these (or at least share one with somebody). It is the best gadget ever.
I'm skeptical about a lot of things, but having studied fluid dynamics the principles that drive this make so much sense. We compared glass after glass, and even those in our group who don't drink as much wine could tell instantly that this thing was gold. Instantly open flavors, bouquet, and even color.
It comes with a cool little stand, a carrying bag, it looks nice, is easy to clean, and you really need to stop reading this and just get one (or a few, everyone's getting these for Christmas).

I am always skeptical of "hobby toys". These sorts of things generally sound nice as a gift. However, in reality, they either don't do anything in reality or are useless to the person with the hobby.
This product really does what it says. It puts a lot of air into a glass of wine as you pour it. It does seem to instantly decant the glass of wine for you. It is easy to use, and almost as important, easy to clean. The rubber "holder" is invaluable, as the Vinturi will have some wine drips that you don't want spilled on your floor somewhere.
Many wines improve with decanting. After 1 month, we have continued to use the Vinturi and prefer using it to both our decanter or going with no decanting. I recommend this product to others.

Just follow the directions - it works like a charm.
I typically will open a bottle and drink it over 4-5 days (with the help of a vacuum sealer) and so I find this aerator infinitely helpful as I don't really want my bottle to get much air or breathe.
You should definitely do the trick of trying a sip with and without aerating - it makes a big difference.
I will say I wish I'd gotten the stand, if only to make things ever so slightly easier, but not a big deal. I would make sure to keep the rubber holster clean and run some water through the aerator after using it.
The carrying pouch is great for casually busting this out at a party too. You look less sophisticated, but more interesting.

My friend reviews kitchen gadgets for an online food blog. She bought this to review... we started with a terrible bottle of table wine. It was really acidic... Anyway, we tasted the wine before, then the wine after... the difference was unbelievable. I usually don't care too much for things like this, but after this test, I was a true believer. I bought it for my mom for her birthday and we tested it with a decent bottle of malbec. You didn't even have to taste the wine to see a difference... you could SMELL (and taste) the difference. Can't say enough good things! It makes a great gift for any serious wine person (or for yourself!).
There is a bit of pouring skill to be mastered... but other than that, its a great gadget!
