Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Vinturi Essential Wine AeratorCustomer Review: An easy way to make average wine very drinkable Summary: 5 Stars
Having drunk many different types and grades of wine over the years and while not being a pompous wine connoisseur I do enjoy a good wine and enjoy a good value wine even more. At home I always decant most of the red wines I purchase and this aerates the wines and removes a lot of tannins and produces a much smoother rounded taste. At a restaurant this is not very practical but using the Vinturi aerator you get as good if not better results without the need for the decanter and now I often find my self using the aerator at home as well.
On the down side it can be messy with wine sneaking out of the air wholes on the side and if you are not carefully running over the top if you pour too fast. But as a way to make a value $20 bottle of wine taste like its cost twice at much you cannot beat this little tool.
Customer Review: Never leave home without it! Summary: 5 Stars
At first I doubted it but my son wanted desperately to buy me a present for the holidays so I told him to go for it. It does everything it says it does and I use it by the glass or with a decanter.
The first one was purchased online but now some wine shops in Florida are begining to carry them. Works with reds and whites, and immediately softens those tannis or acidity depending on the wine.
One side effect is that it introduced so many tiny microscopic bubbles into a Chardonay I was drinking that it made it slighly cloudy. Normally this is bad but since I detest the acidity of a Chardonay it was a totally welcome relief and the wine was sooooo much better!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - I have one in each car and one at home, I never drink wine without it and everyone who tries one - buys one!
Customer Review: This gadget really works! Summary: 5 Stars
I find it amazing that people who have rated this one star never actually used the item. They seem unable to differentiate the product itself from communication issues. I tried this tonight at a wine tasting that involved some excellent Burgundy wines. Most people who drink old world reds know that some time in a decanter is necessary to allow the wine to open up in order to experience the full flavors of the wine. Doing a side by side test with the same wine using this device and not using it was eye opening. The Vinutri really works! My wife and I were both amazed at the difference and we used it on 3 different wines. I bought one before I left the tasting and immediately put it to use at home. You cannot go wrong with this if you can appreciate how enabling a wine to breath makes such a difference.
Customer Review: Don't buy 1......Buy 6! Summary: 5 Stars
My Dad is hard to please and impossible to buy gifts for, but he does love his wine. This year for his birthday I took a tip from a friend and got this for my Dad... At first he didn't really get it, but after he tried the newly opened wine straight from the bottle in comparison to the wine that was poured through the Vinturi, he became enamored. He went from a skeptic to showing this device to everyone who has walked in our door since his birthday. He's going to give one to his brother for his birthday. If you need a gift for anyone who even a little likes wine, get a Vinturi!
Pros:
Opens wine up beautifully
Super easy to clean - just rinse in water
Portable
Easy to use
Cons:
Don't use it on a bottle of wine that has already been open for a while.
Customer Review: Great product, but don't expect magic... Summary: 4 Stars
I really enjoy using this product. It's well designed and thoughtfully packaged. It's fun to hear the whistling sound it makes when you pour the wine through.
YES, it does change the aroma and flavor of the wine you drink, and for the most part, for the better. I'm no sommelier, but I'd describe the wine as rounder and more complex after pouring it through the aerator. Most of the time this is a really good thing and really adds to my wine drinking experience.
HOWEVER, don't expect this product to turn your [...] buck chuck into a 100 dollar vintage wine. Some wines are meant to be poured from the bottle directly into the back of your throat (in which case, you probably should be drinking something else).
Great product, but manage your expectations...
