I ordered this product/tray to give as a gift at Christmas and was disappointed with the quality of the product. As others mentioned, the bottom is very thin and just placed into the sides, not glued as the dove-tailed construction implies. If you need to use this tray to serve, as a tray to hold for carrying, it wouldn't hold up. Order only if you intend to use this tray for display. I had to return it which was an easy process but cost me time and money in the end.

Villeroy & Boch' s Home Elements dishes and accessories have simple, clean lines and are made of neutral materials--white ceramic, stainless steel, and lightly stained wood; in other words, they're made to be used everyday. Timeless in both appearance and function, the Home Elements line combines modern engineering and design with centuries of craftsmanship. Luxembourg's Villeroy & Boch has been designing for the kitchen since 1748, and their designers know that simplicity works.This large, double-handled serving tray is made of lightly stained maple wood, polished to a satiny finish. It has slightly curved, concave sides and handles, giving it a natural look. It is a good size for breakfast in bed with enough room for a large plate, coffee cup, silverware, and jam for the toast! (Villeroy & Boch has a cute jam spoon that'd be perfect for that.) Other serving pieces in the collection include an unusual, boat-shaped bread bowl, a tureen-like covered vegetable dish, and lidded butter and margarine dishes.
The Villeroy & Boch Home Elements serving tray should be washed by hand in warm water with a mild detergent and dried immediately with a soft dishcloth. It is varnished, so the oil treatments used on some cutting boards or wooden bowls are not necessary. The serving tray measures 19-1/2 by 15-1/4 by 3 inches. --Garland Withers
