You can do so much more than make panini's with this thing! But let's talk about those first. They come out making you look like a master chef - everything is evenly browned and heated.If you use it for other grilling, you will not be disappointed either. It cooks fish almost instantly (both top and bottom plates are heated) and chicken comes out perfect without drying out. PLUS it drains fat and grease away from your food.
It's really easy to clean. You clean the grooves with the included tool and then give it a quick wipe-down and your done. Don't compare it to the Forman Grill, which is very similar - this is much better quality as far as design and sturdiness go. The top plate swivels for even contact. This is a great product.

Grooves are deep making it a pain to clean, especially after cooking meats.
Doesn't have a digital tempature gage.
No timer.
Doesn't have removable plates, which would be especially nice.
If I were to do it again, well, I'd probably still be tempted by this grills beauty and quality. But there's a new George Foreman grill that I think I'd rather have now. It has it all, removable plates, digital tempature gage and timer, it just doesn't have the beauty of the Villaware. Although review aren't in on that one yet.

I should tell you my bias: I have a very small kitchen, so I really have to like every new appliance, utensil, etc. in order to keep it. And I just didn't "get" this panini grill: it's heavy, rather large in a small kitchen, & gets very, very hot on the outside; so much so that it seemed a safety hazard. Oh yes, & hard to clean, too. If you have a stove, esp. a gas model, I think it would be better to get a grill pan--easier to clean, to modulate the heat, & to store. But that's just my own take; obviously, some people really like this panini grill. If you think it might mesh with your own approach to kitchen gadgets & cooking, & you have the space, it may be worth a try.Customer Review: Do not buy this panini grill

I ordered and received this grill this past January. It is almost impossible to clean. The grilling surfaces are not removable to facilitate washing and foods stick to it in spite of the so called non-stick surfaces. Cheeses become attached like glue the first time you use the grill. After several uses the unit does not heat up properly and takes forever to grill the panini. I understand that this product has been discontinued by the manufacturer and I can understand why.
Today I finally threw it in the garbage and ordered the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler which has removable grills which can be easily cleaned by hand or put in the dishwasher.

Bought it for panini's, suprised with meats. Made juicy tender perfect chicken breasts in less than 10 minutes. Used a polder thermometer to monitor the progress. Perfect grill marks on juicy tender chicken.Pros:

Lack of on/off switch not missed...one less step to perfect paninis. We use is 2-4 times a week.
