Customer Review: VillaWare V3600-NS Prego Pizzelle Baker
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a simple very well made Pizzelle machine. It resembles a waffle iron but is much smaller in size, so it will not take up too much kitchen cabinet space when not used. The non stick surface works extremely well and the Pizzelles are easy to remove once baked.

The unit has no timer built in to it, but I use an external timer which cost me $5.00 and it works great with the pizzele machine. I find it takes 50 seconds to bake two pizzelles at a time. They are 5 inch pizzellis and not 4 inches as some other machines produce. I really like the 5 inch ones over 4 inch pizzelles. The unit allows me to bake approximately 2 pizzelles every minute.

You can fold a pizzelle into a cone shape easily while still warm. (It takes maybe 15 seconds to harden up firm into the desired shape either as a cylinder, cone, or flat pizzelle). (If you curve them into a cone and fill them with whipped cream out of an aerisol can, they are to die for).

My family has found the "plain pizzelles" and the "walnut/maple syrup pizzelles" to be our favorite ones. We initially thought we would like the Rum and Orange pizzelles but that was not the case. The Orange flavor was too over powering. Of course, a sprinkling of Powder Sugar really makes pizzelles addictive. (All the mentioned recipies came out of the instruction manual which came with the unit.

Yes, I would again buy this unit. It would be my first choice again if I had to buy another machine. Let's face it, you are not going to use this device every day of your life. It is a simple well made appliance and it cranks out two 5 inch pizzelles every minute. That is fast enough for me. My resettable outboard timer keeps me posted as to when to remove the pizzelles from the baker. I am very well pleased with this unit, the price was right, and Amazon's FREE shipping made my purchase a great deal.

Pizzelles are fun and fast to bake and everyone I give them to loves them. You will get a lot of enjoyment out of this well made low cost machine.

I've never owned a pizzelle iron before, so I didn't know much about what to look for when purchasing one, or even where to buy one. I had checked Williams-Sonoma, my usual go-to place for kitchen gadgets, and they didn't have any. I checked Bed Bath & Beyond, and they had the CuisinArt one, but the cookie looked very small (3" as opposed to this irons 5"), and it did not have the handle that this machine has.

I ordered this on Saturday night, and received it Tuesday, with the free shipping. Fastest free shipping I've ever had.

I cannot express how much I *love* this iron already... It's an excellent appliance, heats up quickly, and following the recipe in the booklet it comes with, I'm done with a batch of cookies in under an hour... (that's warming the iron, melting the butter, measuring the ingredients, mixing and baking).

My only advice to anyone buying this is to be absolutely sure to keep the kids at bay. I thought I had my iron far enough away from little fingers, but my son still managed to touch the outer casing of the iron while I was baking a batch. The outer casing gets extremely hot. Extremely hot. He learned to listen when told something is hot. He loves the cookies (as do I and my husband). I love experimenting with flavors, so we've had the traditional pizzelle, almond, lemon, and chocolate anise... I'm very much looking forward to the gingerbread pizzelles, as I'm a huge fan of gingerbread, the booklet comes with quite a few recipes, though I would suggest adding more anise to the traditional cookie, as does my husband who said the anise was barely noticable. His Italian Nana used to make these, so I'm sure he knows :)

Great buy for the money, and paired with free shipping can't be beat. I'll be recommending this iron to anyone looking at buying a pizzelle iron.

Customer Review: Great pizzelle maker but bad packaging by Amazon!!
Summary: 5 Stars

G'day from Australia! When I read the fantastic reviews for this pizzelle maker, I knew this was the one to buy. My pizzelle maker arrived today and I was so excited tht I immediately started to use it. Like what previous reviewers said, this product is really fantastic. I sprayed the 1st 2 times cos I was afraid the pizzelles would stick. I didnt spray for the remaining pizzelles but they didnt stick!! The pizzelles were evenly cook, crispy and beautiful!! Love this product to bits! Unfortunately, this wonderful product came at a whopping price for me.I had to pay US$155 for shipping from USA to Australia. As Amazon can ship this item only within USA, I decided to use an International shipping company, based in USA. Amazon ships the item to the International shipping company in USA, then the International shipping company ships it to Australia. The Pizzelle BOX itself measures just 10.5inch x 10.5inch x 5.5in. But Amazon packaged it into a way TOO BIG PACKAGING box measuring 26in x 20in x 8.5in!! This is 2x the pizzelle box!!( Btw,there was no padding/ bubble wrap inside the packaging box to reduce any impact. This increases my bewilderment as to why it was packaged in such a humongous box) Becos the packaging box was so HUGE - the International shipping co, which bases its shipping charges based on VOLUME charged me a whopping USD$155 just to ship this item to Australia!! This is more than DOUBLE the shipping costs I expected to pay!! If the pizzelle box was packaged in a correct sized packaging box, my shipping charges from USA to Australia would have at the very least be halved!!

edited @14th August 2009: Amazon has just partially reimbursed my inflated shipping costs and apologised for this error in packaging! My confidence in Amazon.com is thus restored and I'm happy to continue shopping in amazon.com in future.

OK...IN LONG ISLAND NY, THERE IS THIS BRICK OVEN, OR COAL BURNING PIZZERIA CALLED NICK'S.
THEIR CANOLIs are THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
I CHALLENGE THE WORLD TO DISCREDIT ME!
SO..I finally get the nerve and ask "WHAT DO YOU USE FOR YOUR SHELL?" (I have used WONTON WRAPPERS, ROLLED AND FRIED which are GREAT....).
THEY SAID A PIZELLE MAKER.
THEY SHOWED ME THE PIECE.
"VILLAWARE" I wrote on a NAPKIN.
13 minutes later, I CRASHED INTO MY GARAGE, DOVE OUT THE WINDOW, as my wife yelled "TAKE ONE OF THE KIDS!".
I shouted "YOU TAKE THEM.....I'M GOING ON THE COMPUTER!".
Whether or not they made it in the house I am not sure....BUT ONE THING I AM SURE ABOUT!
I GOT TO AMAZON, FOUND THE PIZELLE FOR LESS THAN EBAY, and VILLAWARE ITSELF! (I was tempted to become a DISTRIBUTOR).
THE REST IS HISTORY!
PERFECT COOKIES, that once ROLLED, become the ULTIMATE SHELL!
MARSCAPONE CHEESE WITH CONFECTIONER'S SUGAR....and BAM!
SORRY EMERIL!
OR FAT FREE with FAT FREE CREAM CHEESE, and CONF SUGAR.
THINNED WITH RICE MILK AND CONF SUGAR.
WHATEVER and CONF SUGAR!
WHEW! I just typed for more time than I HAVE EVER BEEN AWAY FORM MY PIZELLE MAKER....back I go!
TIME TO MAKE THE PIZELLES!
Smitty
PS YOU CAN MAKE THEM and REFRIGERATE THEM...when company comes...FILL THEM AND BAM AGAIN!

Customer Review: Makes Perfect Pizzelles
Summary: 5 Stars

Pros: I've used this once or twice a week since it arrived last month. It's exactly as described, easy to use, and easy to clean and maintain (let it cool, wipe it with a paper towel, and you're done.) It came with some very good recipes, the 'traditional' style and 'Southern Italian' style being the two best, but if you have your own recipe don't be afraid to use it; this is a machine tolerates changes in batter/dough and continues to work well. Best of all, though, is that it makes wonderful pizzelles and in only 30-45 seconds (cooking to taste.)

Cons: None, really. Some makers have a signal to let you know when they're cooked, but I don't think I'd pay attention to it after the first batch was done. By their nature, being so thin and delicate (and even with more sturdy batters), you really have to decide for yourself when they're done. I'd suggest having a watch with a second hand nearby the first few times you use it, but once you know how 'cooked' you like them to be (judged by their color, from pale yellow to the color of a sugar cone), you'll know how long to leave them in the maker.

I grew up on these and the ones now being sold in local grocery stores - even the 'homemade' pizzelles at $6 a dozen - just don't make the grade. These do. I couldn't be more pleased.
