Customer Review: Unit never completely cooks waffle
Summary: 1 Stars

I also purchased this unit based on the glowing reviews and received a product that doesn't perform well at all. After trying four batches of waffles with different batter and oil types I have yet to have the first waffle not stick and break in half. Regardless of the temp setting, the batter never cooks through. Even on the highest setting I have to wait an extra minute after the buzzer sounds to open the unit without breakage. Even then, the batter is stil steaming. The unit makes a dark brown waffle with an uncooked center.

The manufacturer advises that the unit should perform better but they can't replace it because it's out of stock until Spetember (it's July). This unit is being returned to Amazon for a refund.

Although I may have received a defective unit, I would not recommend the unit or the manufacturer.

Customer Review: Belgian Waffler Experienced Review
Summary: 5 Stars

I did much research on different waffle irons prior to my VillaWare purchase. The "Round" versus "Square" shape iron came into my decision mainly because I read it was important; how important, not vary in my
opinion. However, I am very happy with my "Round" one. Having not used a
waffle iron before, had alot to learn and the VillaWare was very forgiving to my mistakes like pouring too much batter on iron; the over flow was easy to clean-up. The non-stick cooking surface and polished exterior lid plus the non-stick bottom surface works very well. The indicator lights, aural alert sound and variable temp control work great!
The electrical chord and stand-up iron storage features are really pluses. From a man's point of view I'm very happy with my VillaWare model V2002 Belgian Waffle Iron and recommend it.

Customer Review: So Long IHOP
Summary: 5 Stars

After doing a lot of research between the standard Belgian waffle maker and the ones that flip or rotate, I chose this one. It was a Cooks Illustrated best buy, highly rated both on and off amazon, and at a good price. This waffle maker lived up to the good ratings. Our waffles came out crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and probably about half the cost of going out, plus we have real maple syrup:) I didn't find the timer sound obnoxious at all. I liked it being a little loud, I can wander a bit and still know I can hear it.

I'm sure whichever waffle mix or recipe one chooses will help or hurt the final outcome. We used an overnight yeast recipe which gave lovely light waffles. A few strips of bacon and a cup of really good espresso and ...sorry IHOP, but we won't be darkening your door anymore.

Customer Review: Very Satisfied!

I was torn between purchasing the Presto or Villaware waffle maker based on the reviews. The deciding factor was based on Alton Brown's recommendation of the Villaware. Alton has led me down the wrong path in the past with some of his recipes, but so far he was earned my trust regarding appliances/utensils. I am extremely happy with the quality and result of this item. Waffles are crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. The item stores easily and clean-up is simple. The chirping ready alarm drives my dogs nuts. I have learned to block it out. I am hoping that I get many years of use from this waffle maker. By Black & Decker burned out in over a year and very little use. The Presto got some great reviews but it does take up more space than the Villaware and is not nearly as retro cute!

Customer Review: Murphy's Law
Summary: 3 Stars

1 - makes great waffles - 2 - problem: waffles are very tall so you must use a ton of syrup or they seem dry - 3 - you may not want a belgian waffler but opt instead for a regular waffler if the tons of syrup required is a problem for you-this is what i would have bought if i had known - 4 - Murphy (our dog) is deathly afraid of the buzzer telling you a waffle's ready, i can't figure out how to turn down or off the buzzer - 5 - the waffles actually work best for us using a normal bisquick waffle recipe & the waffles have a wonderful taste & texture - 6 - another great thing about this waffler is the belgian design being so deep you can avoid a lot of the batter overflow waste & mess found using non-belgian wafflers - 7 - the best wafflers are presidents, politicians & villaware
