Customer Review: Back In Waffle Heaven
Summary: 5 Stars

SEPTEMBER 2009: VILLA WARE IS GREAT. Just got it today. Made two batches. Nice and brown and no sticking. My first waffler was the $80 Waring Pro. Made great waffles, but the heating element died after limited usage. Waring replaced the out of warranty unit (I had to pay shipping and handling) and sent me a real lemon. No matter how I seasoned it, the waffles stuck like glue. I bought a Presto for $45.00. Waffles came out raw looking and burnt and stuck like glue. THE VILLA WARE IS GREAT! Easy to use. The beep is loud, but I like it that way. Waffles cook fast and clean up is quick and no fuss. The waffles are golden brown (it's been a long time since I've made golden brown waffles). I use a box recipe for now. Since it works so well, I will spend the extra money for a better waffle mix. The other two lemons (Waring and Presto) will be thrown in the trash.

UPDATE!! JANUARY 9, 2010
VILLA WARE IS STILL GREAT. Because this does not flip, waffles will look better on one side than the other. Are they perfect looking, no. But that's okay. They golden brown (on one side) and they don't stick! For $45.00 it's better than the three lemons I had. I would still recommend it.

Customer Review: Great Belgian Waffle Maker
Summary: 5 Stars

Fast and made great waffles. On the 6-7 setting, it turned out approx 1 waffle every minute and a half. I followed the instructions to just season with a little oil, then it made great waffles and cleaned very effortlessly with just a paper towel to absorb residual oil. Also, UNO products from Villaware carry a two year no nonsense warranty. The other Villaware line of waffle makers only carry a 1 year warranty.

We actually liked the chiming to signal ready or finished since that allowed us to do other things without having to watch it constantly.

We made stacks of waffles with this waffle iron and turned them upside down on a wire cookie sheet in the oven to keep them warm and served them at the appropriate times. Nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.

We served 5 adults and 1 child effortlessly for breakfasts.

I used the first one with my daughter's family and liked it so much that I got another one for my wife and myself and chucked our other waffle maker.

We were initially concerned that it didn't have an on/off switch but it didn't spark in the wall outlet when plugging it in or pulling it out of the wall outlet.

Customer Review: Great Waffles!

I ordered this waffle iron for my fiancee as a birthday gift. She had been talking about how she loved waffles, so I wanted to make sure I got the best and most practical waffle iron I could find that wasn't $200. After doing a decent amount of research, I settled on the Villaware V2002 UNO. We've been using it for a few months now with no complaints. Its the easiest and most consistent waffle iron I've ever owned, and requires little to no maintanence. Its simple to use with the lights and a sound letting you know when the waffler is heated up and when your waffles are ready. Cleaning is as simple as wiping the surface with a paper towel after it has cooled down. And most importantly, the waffles are always consistently good; they don't fall apart and are usually pretty even in thickness.

If you have children, I would be careful with them around the waffler. This thing gets REALLY hot. The metal frame on the outside will burn you if you touch it while the waffler is on, and you have to be careful when opening the waffler when your waffle is finished cooking as sometimes a puff of steam will come out that could burn your hand. Otherwise, no complaints and a great price!

Customer Review: We love this waffler!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

We went on vacation and the cabin we rented had an older well-used VillaWare waffler which we used each morning. With no previous experience making our own waffles, we quickly decided that this was an easy and most excellent way to start each day. And so much better than any store bought frozen waffles.
Upon return home we quickly started researching good recipes and, more importantly, shopping for our own waffler. We were surprised and pleased to see that the VillaWare was recommended by our favorite TV chef, Alton Brown. While the model waffler at the cabin was a discontinued VillaWare model making classic 4 square waffles, we selected the VillaWare Model 2002 UNO Belgian Round and shopped for the best price. Amazon.com was the best choice and we received our new waffler quickly. Thankfully...because I think this waffler has since also been discontinued too.
This waffler looks and works great! It has a vintage appearance and, with its cord wrap and built in stand, takes up very little counter/cabinet space when not in use. More importantly, it is a cinch to use and makes absolutely wonderful waffles with minimum clean-up.
We highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Perfect simplicity
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife and I had been thinking about buying a waffle maker for a while. We grabbed this one after Alton Brown recommended a very similar model on Good Eats.** We love this thing! It heats up in under 2 minutes and the built-in timer turns out a perfect, golden brown waffle every time. The waffles are evenly cooked from edge to edge, and even if you forget to use a non-stick spray, they pop out with zero mess. The whole device is quite compact, has an attractive stainless steel surface, and stands up on end for easy storage in the cupboard or simply shoved against the back wall of your countertop. Other waffle makers might have more bells and whistles, but if you simply want hassle free, idiot proof, flawless waffles every time, get this unit.

**NOTE: this is not the exact same unit as seen on the show... Alton's made a standard waffle with a small, shallow grid (about 10 squares across), whereas this makes Belgian waffles with a large, deep grid (about 6 squares across). However, they were both made by Villaware with the exact same power consumption, shape, diameter, and features. And, as it turns out, they make waffles equally well.
