Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of VillaWare V2002 UNO Belgian Waffler, RoundCustomer Review: Great Waffle iron! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this waffler through Amazon and love it. I use it on its highest setting and it makes perfect waffles every time. It's made in China, and it shows in the cosmetics- little edges are rough- but NOTHING that would keep me from buying it. The cord wraps around four posts on the bottom, and it has a plug keeper to keep the cord from unraveling when it's stored.
It's easy to use; I just plug it in, and by the time I've got the batter mixed it's beeping and ready to go. It might take less time to be hot on the lower settings- YMMV.
For the money, this waffler is tough to beat. I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Just so you know--NOT Alton Brown's recommendation. Summary: 4 Stars
I was recently watching Alton Brown's show about waffles, and then came looking for the waffle iron he used on his show. Some reviewers are stating that this Villaware Belgian waffler is the waffle iron recommended on the show. It isn't. The iron used on the show is the Villaware V2004 Uno Series Classic Round Waffle Maker Waffler (not the Belgian version). I'm sure they're both good, but they're also different.
Just thought some of you guys might want to know. The classic version seems like it is harder to find, but there are still some out there. If Amazon is out, try eBay or even Williams-Sonoma.
Customer Review: Produces delicious waffles fast Summary: 5 Stars
Kind of pricey, but it works really well and the waffles are incredible. I'm not sure if I'd ever eaten a Belgian waffle before. They're incredibly delicious compared to even the best homemade flat-square waffles. We had a cheap flat-square waffle maker which seems like a sad little toy compared to the VillaWare Belgian waffle maker.
I couldn't believe how fast the waffles are baked in this thing, it doesn't seem possible. The round design (thank you Alton Brown) is definitely the way to go. This appliance isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for, and this is worth every penny.
Customer Review: Make the beeping stop Summary: 5 Stars
My dog is traumatized by all of these beeping appliances.
Here is how to make it stop (and void your warranty).
Under the data plate on the bottom of the waffler there is a circuit board. Remove it carefully and locate the large round black piezoelectric speaker (it is about the diameter of a dime) See the small hole in it? Locate a small screw from one of your kids broken toys or some such place and screw it in carefully till you hear a click. Now test it; no more beeping. Note: the screw can't be too long or you will never get everything back together. Any Q's email longbikezatgmaildotcom.
Customer Review: VillaWare V2002 UNO Belgian Waffler - Round Summary: 5 Stars
Caught this model recommendation on the Food Network (Good Eats). It replaced a 20 year-old waffle iron that just did not perform. This is a GREAT waffle iron. I am very pleased with it. Some of the prior reviews relates the "alarm" buzz on the waffle iron was bothersome... not to me. In a busy kitchen (and getting on in years) the alarm is a welcome signal that gets me into action... and its results are always consistent. Hint: For ready-to-eat waffles, put on settin #7 (max) to get good crispy waffles. For making waffles for the freezer, set on #5 as toaster re-heating will add to cook time.
