Customer Review: Don't buy this coffee maker!

When I first saw this maker I was intrigued by it's sleek Euro-cool style. I was slightly dismayed by the fact that there is no timer, clock, or auto shutoff; however, those were properties I knew going in didn't exist.
After I started using the Villaware, I liked it ok. It made coffee in a standard way, no better or worse than any other pot I've used in the past.
I had it for six months and then the spring broke that lets you use the 'sneak-a-cup' feature. This is after completely normal use. Not too long after that, the pot's burner plate has burned itself off and it leaks from underneath.
This is the worst coffee maker I have ever used. Do yourself a favor and pass this one up. As for me, I'm going back to my handy standby--the Black and Decker SmartBrew Plus. Consumer Reports has this coffee maker listed as 'CR Best Buy', and I've never had a problem with it.

VillaWare Coffee Maker makes up to 10 cups. Aluminum housing, die cast metals parts. Separate heaters for brewing and hot plate. Aroma switch for individual taste, glass carafe, and drip-stop.This beautiful die-cast metal coffee maker looks like it should be in a museum exhibit, but is just as functional as it is cool to look at. The machine holds enough coffee to brew up to 10 cups and has a unique brewing control switch so you can set the brewing strength to your individual preference. Coffee brews into a heat-tempered glass carafe and stays warm after brewing when you switch the hot plate?s variable temperature control to one of five settings. This maker also offers automatic drip stop so you can pour coffee in the middle of a brewing cycle. Other features include a transparent water tank for easy monitoring, a slide-in filter holder for paper filters, and an on/off switch with a power light.
