Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Video Catnip -- DVDCustomer Review: my kitties love this thing!! Summary: 4 Stars
my cats get excited when i turn on this DVD! The loop feature is awesome! i have caught them so engrossed in it, they don't hear me come home. they chatter and sometimes jump up at the screen. i've had it for several weeks and play it often but they don't seem to tire of it. On the contrary, they love it more and more and even seem to have a whole new interest in television in general and will watch my programs with me too. They also seem more motivated to play. The only reason i didn't give it five stars is that the actual quality of the images is not good and the music section that opens the loop is unnecessary and too loud. the cats and i both prefer the section with only wildlife images and sounds but the other part is short and certainly not a reason to avoid this product. i highly recommend this DVD to entertain the "kids" when you are away, but take the warning about excitability serious and be sure the environment around the TV is safe for wound up cats to romp a little. I love this product!
Customer Review: The GREATEST Invention EVER Summary: 5 Stars
I think this may rival the wheel!
My three cats LOVE this dvd. (I, however, now have it memorized!!) Put it on (the larger the TV the better to surround the kitty) and set a stool or table near the TV.
1) I have a kitten (< 1 mo.) who runs around the TV and go bonkers trying to get at the birds - until he wears himself out.
2) A 4-yr old siamese who bats at the birds FOR HOURS. I bought this DVD for her when I brought her home from the shelter to liven her spirit.
3) And a 4-yr old semi-outdoor (jaded) stumpy who was initially interested but has bored (she also doesn't like to be around the other cats).
I can't believe how much my two cats love this video. I put it on repeat, go to work, and don't have to worry that my kitties are bored. (They do, however, spend their day in front of the TV). Since I bought this DVD, my cats are now fascinated with tennis tournaments. This was THE BEST ~$20 I ever spent!
Customer Review: "Worth every penny...searched high and low for this" Summary: 5 Stars
I originally bought this in the early 1990's in the video tape form for my first cat, and she loved it so much. After she passed in 1995, I adopted 2 kittens in 1996, and they loved it. Now, I adopted 2 more kittens, who are now 3 years old, and the one boy can't get enough of it. He sits on the corner of the bed and stares at the TV, waiting for me to put the DVD in. Then he goes right up to it, sits there and "reads" the FBI warnings! He loves to go after all of the animals.
I also purchased 2 other DVD's from here, but they are not as good, as the 2 boys aren't into the fish, mice, and other cats. They seem to like the birds, squirrels and chipmunks better. I think it's a kitten thing, as my 2 older girls really aren't impressed by it anymore.
They are all indoor cats.
Customer Review: Pawsitively fun! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this video last year for my 2 cats for Christmas. (Yes, they're a bit spoiled.) Zoe wasn't very impressed with it, but Ziva absolutely LOVES it. I have a chair permanently in front of the TV for her because she wants to watch it every day. All I have to do is say, "Ziva, do you want your TV show?" and she comes running and jumps up on her chair. If she wants to watch it before I offer to turn it on, she sits on her chair and looks at me until I turn it on for her. There are little paw prints all over the TV screen from where she tries to catch the critters on the screen. It's so much fun to watch her! This video may not catch the attention of every cat, as my two cats prove, but when it does, they love it!
Customer Review: It's the cats' pajama's Summary: 3 Stars
i bought this video for my four cats for christmas. when they watched it they were entranced the first few times i put it on but as time goes on they seem less interested and seem to know it's only a video.
Just as the video said they did paw at the screen and they were very cute but i guess its more useful as a relaxation tool, watching all of the birds and squirrels get in on the nut and berries action.
this video seems a little outdated seeing as it was first produced in 1989. So if you are interested in buying this, go ahead but set up a fund for it like $5/wk and put the money somewhere so it wont feel like a waste, $20+shipping?
Last note, im glad i bought it for them
