Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Vidalia Chop WizardCustomer Review: GREAT ITEM 5 Stars
I don't understand what all the bad reviews are about. My 73 year old Mother uses hers all the time & she has never had a problem with it. I use mine all the time. You have to cut your veggies to fit the grate. I love this product. I've had mine for several years & it's never broke. If the veggies are old they will not work. They have to be fresh. When I make potato salad I chop all my veggies with it. It's a great product!!!! Don't listen to all the bad reviews! Listen to the 5 star reviews because they are right!!! For the ones that the item broke..I don't know what you were chopping!! As for the cleaning, When I get ready to clean mine, I tap it against the sink & anything that's stuck to the blades comes right out. The little fork the cleans the cover works great. You just scrape it as you run water over it & it cleans right up. NO PROBLEM HERE!!!!
Customer Review: Not Worth the $$ Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this because I was cooking a huge amount of chili for a charity event and needed to chop several onions. For that one event it was perfect - I chopped several onions and tomatoes in a fraction of the time it would have taken by hand. However, in the long run, this gadget proved to be difficult to keep clean, especially when you're chopping onions. The top of the device is easy to clean with the little cleaner that you get (or a fork), but the actual blades are trickier. The fine skin of the onion can get stuck to the blades and it takes some real effort to get them clean. Also, the commercials for this are a little deceptive, as it takes some real muscle to push the top down to chop the veggies - you'll need to quarter them at least before adding them to the chopper. For $20, I expected something a little easier to use and maintain.
Customer Review: Best Gadget Ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE this thing, and I don't even like "kitchen gadgets"! I got this as a joke "gag-gift" for my husband who always complained that I cut up the vegetables too big. Now I can't live without it. Satisfies my OCD nature by easily turning out piles of perfectly cut, uniform sized pieces. You would be amazed at the variety of veggies you can shove into an omelette using the smaller dicing blade. Makes your soups and salads look professionally prepared. Easy to clean, too. I plan to get one for all of my girls for Christmas (just so I can have one available when I cook during visits!)Very sturdy. Only tip is to be sure that the chunk of vegetable placed on the grid for cutting does NOT over-lap the edges of the metal grid. Having pieces sticking out beyond the cutting grid suface is what makes it hard to cut.
Customer Review: I'm buying another one Summary: 5 Stars
I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I find this chopper an absolute necessity. Sure, you have to do a little preparation, but it's a lot easier to slice an onion and lay the slices on the chopper than it is to chop the whole thing -- at least, if you have arthritis. I can push down on the top with the flat of my hand just fine. I have had mine for five years, and the clear receptacle cracked (no fault of the chopper -- I dropped it and someone stepped on it -- LOL). Anyway, even with a small crack in it, it works fine; but I am going to buy another one and keep the cracked one for times when I have several ingredients to dice. I like to chop my ingredients ahead of time, and the chopper makes a great "holding bowl" while I line up all of my ingredients. This chopper is worth its weight in gold in MY kitchen!
Customer Review: Wonderful Kitchen tool Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this handy little gadget!! I use it all the time to dice my onions and pepers. We go through a bunch so I usually do about 10-15 pounds of onions and freeze them so they are ready when I need them. I also do 15 or so peppers too. This is something that lets me do my job quickly and easily here at home. The 15 pounds of onions only took me about 25 minutes to have them done and in the freezer. Works great for making diced hashbrowns too. Slice them potatoes to the desired thickness and put them in this a slice at a time and your taters are diced for hash browns real wuick. works for making mashed potatoes and potato salad too! Thanks for the great time saver and when this little baby wears out, you can bet your bottom dollar I will be purchasing another so keep em coming.
