Customer Review: cool knife with a strange tarnish/rust circle after one month

I finally moved this from my wish list to my cart after reading the recommendation from Michael Chu's Cooking for Engineers website. I have a Robinson's carving knife from 30 years ago that works great as a bread knife and is sold for $7 so I wasn't afraid to get a lower priced knife. Although my fancy vegetable knife is still getting daily use, this fillet knife was much better and easier at making very thin slices from partially-frozen pork loin chops. I am delighted more with this knife because it is not expensive and a designer brand. It is made in Switzerland and very flexible and cuts very fast.
I also had a very easy time making deli-thin slices from a beef roast.
Even though I own two global knives, I really like this Victorinox so much and would recommend this brand to everyone. Also, a fillet knife is not a first choice if you have to buy just one knife but it has worked wonderfully for carving chicken as well as for boning and filleting.

In 1884 Master Cutler Karl Elsner started his cutlery factory in Ibach, Switzerland and in 1897 he crafted the Victorinox Original Swiss Army Knife. Since that time the Elsner family has continued to craft tools of percision, durability and quality. Victorinox is one of the largest producers of cutlery in the world. Victorinox cutlery has been distributed in the United States since 1884 to culinary professionals under the brand name R.H. Forschner. Each blade is stamped from a single sheet of metal. The blade is then hardened, tempered, ground, polished, etched and finished.Thanks to its narrow, flexible blade, the seven-inch pointed fillet knife from Victorinox agilely reaches into tight spaces and separates skin and bones from fish or raw meat. The knife also may be used to cut fruit and vegetables. Because the blade is stamped rather than forged, the price is kept reasonable, yet the high-carbon, stainless steel is extremely durable and is ground to a razor-sharp edge that can be re-sharpened repeatedly. The molded Fibrox handle provides a sure grip, has no grooves or rivets to harbor bacteria, and is dishwasher-safe. All in all, this is a lightweight and very versatile knife.
