I bought this knife to replace a much-loved bread knife whose wooden handle had gotten dried and cracked. Wow! I hadn't realized how dull my old knife was until I used this one the first time. The bandaid on my finger attests to the keenness of the edge: on the very first draw through my morning bagel, it sliced as much as my old knife would have done in 3 draws, and reminded me that there is a correct slicing technique.
Great knife! Handle with care.

This knife can do it all-it slices through everything with ease. Breads can now be sliced as thin as you want without smashing the loaf. I am going to get rid of a bunch of knives since I always reach for this amazing knife for almost everything I want to slice. It is truly all purpose and extremely sharp. I love this knife so much I am ordering another one to have at my cottage. I am also looking at their steak knives and probably will try those next.Customer Review: Excellent for purpose

As a bread knife, the Victorinox was rated by Cooks Illustrated as a "Best Buy," and in that capacity it excels for about one third the cost of other bread knives. The knife makes bread-slicing easy and convenient with none of the loaf-damaging problems of other types of cutlery. All of the Victorinox knives in my kitchen have the same qualities of lasting sharpness, slip-free handles, and excellent design. We make a lot of bread in our house and the biggest problem has been waiting for it to cool before cutting in to it to avoid squishing the loaf beyond recognition. I recently purchased this knife and the first thing I did was put it to a loaf fresh out of the oven. WOW!!! I absolutely LOVE this knife! It cut beautiful slices from a hot loaf and could slice the entire loaf without any part of it getting squished. Highly recommended.Customer Review: Very good knife

was the deciding factor - They never steer your wrong!
I have used the knife quite a bit so far and am very pleased with it's performance.
