Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Victorinox 47547 10-1/4-Inch Wavy Bread Knife, Black Fibrox HandleCustomer Review: Blade is really only 9 and 3/4 inches long Summary: 4 Stars
This is a very nice knife. It's well-made and comfortable to use (even though I have relatively small hands for a man).
It works extremely well with lighter breads, whiffing through them with ease. With heavier, dense breads (like, say, a honey whole-wheat loaf), it does have a tendency to veer off to the side as the blade nears the bottom of the slice (the serrations are on the right side of the knife as you hold it, blade down, pointing away from you) unless you use some extra downward force when cutting.
HOWEVER ... the actual length of the blade on this knife (the sharp side) is about 9.75 inches (that's approximately 24.75 centimeters for you metric-loving folk).
Customer Review: Amazing value Summary: 5 Stars
Don't bother dropping $80+ on a bread knife from some of the more well known knife brands (e.g. Wusthof, Global, etc.), even though this is a stamped knife it works like a charm. I definitely wouldn't go any smaller than this 10.25" model, especially if you eat a lot of artisan bread that can be rather large in diameter. It cuts through tough crusts with ease, and I haven't crushed a single loaf yet. Just yesterday I stacked 8 pitas on top of each other and easily cut the stack into quarters for pita chips. I even started to multitask with it; it's great for slicing large roasts and cutting up sandwiches as well.
A wonderful knife to complement any kitchen.
Customer Review: the perfect knife Summary: 5 Stars
I put away all my kitchen knives and will test this one if it works with everything I cut/slice/etc. such as bread, cheese, fruits, etc. So far so good plus it's so much fun because it's as huge as a sword (figuratively speaking) so while I use it, I can dream of chopping off the heads of my enemies.
I decided not to put it into the dishwasher and I wash it by hand after each use.
Unconditionally recommended. The price keeps varying so put it into your shopping basket, watch the price, and then buy it when the price it right.
NOTE. I wonder how this knife differs from its 8 inch long little sister. Are they identical except for size?
Customer Review: Beautiful, Beautiful Knife Summary: 5 Stars
This Victorinox knife is just wonderful. Lightweight, it's strong and razor sharp. The handle is comfortable well designed to make sure you're not likely to lose you grip.
My husband bought it for me as a surprise because I'd been complaining about the one I purchased at the grocery store after our old one bit-the-dust. We really need a good knife because we now make our own bread every week. And unlike the old knife which made me saw the carbs, this blade just slices perfectly with very little pressure and crumbling.
Highly recommend.
(Too sharp, btw, for use by younger children)

Customer Review: Solid performance on a budget Summary: 4 Stars
This knife is not the best I've run across. However, it is under $30 and it does a pretty okay job of slicing crusty loaves. The steel is not spectacular and visibly falls out of true after relatively little use, but it continues to cut satisfactorily. If I were using it to slice tomatoes and the like, it might be more of an issue.
I do like the handle, and I like the Victorinox/Fibrox line. This knife won't wow anyone and I don't think it should win any awards. However, for the price-conscious kitchen-shopper, this is a reasonable knife for a reasonable price. Just remember that you need to sharpen your knives now and then.
