Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Vic Firth French Rolling PinCustomer Review: Vive la France! Summary: 5 Stars
I love, love, love this rolling pin! We are a bread loving family and I spend hours making pizza's, tortilla's, calzones, pita bread and so on. This rolling pin is a god sent. It is very light weight, holds flour well, and glides across dough allowing for shaping without battering of the dough. I have never been able to get my pizza, pita or tortilla rounds perfect before but with this rolling pin it is a breeze. Why didn't I find this pin years ago?
Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Good rolling pin, made in Maine Summary: 5 Stars
This rolling pin is what it's supposed to be... made from quality wood, easy to control, cleans up with a little water and looks good in my kitchen. Living in Northern New England, I was surprised that this rolling pin was made nearby in Maine. It's nice to contribute to the local economy.
My mom has a similar rolling pin from her grandmother that my brother will likely inherit. I can see this Vic Firth rolling pin passed down through the generations as well.
Customer Review: Too short, too thin, and tapered too sharply Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered this without knowing the dimensions, which were not given in the description. The Vic Frith French Rolling pin was smooth and well made, but too short, too thin, and the taper began right at the middle, so that the center section was not flat, which made it difficult to roll pastry evenly. I measured the Frith dimensions as 20 inches long by 1 1/2 inches in diameter, and then ordered a larger model made by Fantes, 20 1/2 by 1 3/4 diameter, which worked much better.
Customer Review: Makes the amateur feel good :) Summary: 5 Stars
I barely consider myself an amateur in the world of baking, just recently getting into pie crusts and foraying into breads, but I had a marble pin, which while beautiful, drove me mad! I will freely admit that it's probably user problems, but using this Vic Firth makes me feel like a professional. Smooth crusts... no problems with the dough sticking to the pin (unless I go mad with the liquid), and so easy to clean and maintain. Definitely a good buy!
Customer Review: Recommended by the pros! Summary: 5 Stars
Rolling out proper pie crusts that are both tender and flaky is easy to do with this pin. It is tapered from the middle to both ends. It is also easier to roll the dough thinly because the rolling pin pushes the dough from the middle. Furthermore, it rotates easily around the dough to make perfect circles. Since this rolling pin is longer than the regular 12" pins with handles, it is great for rolling out wide sheets of pasta or larger pie crusts.
