I bought this product based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Amazon.com, but I was still skeptical as to how well it really worked. When I got this thing and tried it out, I was amazed! I love pineapple but have always disliked the process of cutting them up. This thing slices an entire pineapple into perfect slices in about 30 seconds. This pineapple slicer is great if you are having a party and want your pineapple to look perfectly sliced and displayed nicely. It works and the slices come out perfect. The only drawback is that you have to eat the pineapple that day as it just doesn't keep like it does when you slice it with a knife, where it will keep for a couple of weeks refrigerated.Customer Review: Pays for itself!

I'm always pretty lazy when it comes to peeling, slicing and dicing anything, so I used to buy the pre-cut pineapple chunks that sell for more than $5. This gadget was so easy to use that I'm only buying whole pineapples from now on. They are fresher and much cheaper and I don't have to spend fifteen minutes coring and peeling them. I figured I would take the time to review this item...because when I got it I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It does do exactly what it say it can do...though it would be a lot easier is it was powered. My arm hurt a bit after because I needed to force it down with a lot of pressure into the pineapple. All in all...I do like it!

Although this item works I cannot see it working for a very long time.
It is very hard to insert and turn and to pull out the pineapple takes some muscle. It comes in two pieces and the plastic handle top does not look like it will last long. I would try and find one that is more durable possibly made out of stainless steel.
