It's a bit awkward to use at first but once you get used to it, it's very useful. we were able to get a good cut the first time. it's important to pick the right size center piece to make sure it's clean on the edges, i would recommend this to people who like fresh pineapples or entertain a lot, great for a party for that bartender wanna be..
The price is right for what it gives you. one more thing to stick in the drawer.

lower the stars.. not only do i not use this anymore.. can't find it.. got a pineapple cutting knife on last vacation to hawaii.. beats this thing hands down

My first impressions of this tool was that it wouldn't work as it should, it'd be messy and a waste of money.
It works superbly well, coring out a 'spindle'of pineapple, leaving the 'tube' of core and skin intact allowing the hollowed out pineapple to serve as a great looking container for the fruit. Not messy at all, parts are easily washed.
You might be able to save a marginal amount of fruit by conventionally trimming away at it with a knife, but I found there's infact very little waste with this gadget - plus it's much much faster, satisfying and cleaner too.

This is the most awesome kitchen gadget I have ever owned. You cut the top of the pineapple off, align the center post with the core of the pineapple, twist, and magically, the entire pineapple comes out in one long giant ring. You can even use the shell of the pineapple to make exotic drinks. I liked it so much that I've ordered at least 15 of these gadgets, and I've given one to everyone I know. Everyone loves it as much as I do. Right now, I think Amazon has a special 4 for 3 going one, so you can buy 4 yet pay for only 3. For anyone who loves fresh cut pineapple, but hate cutting it up, this is the tool for you. I originally purchased the stainless steel version, but discovered that it has some screws where pieces of pineapple get caught...doesn't cause a problem with the slicing just he cleaning. I since have purchased this one and it is the best...especially since it comes with 3 different size cutters so you alway have the right size. I buy these in bulk and give them away as gifts and every person I have given one also claims that it has changed their life and agree this is the best pineapple slicer ever!Customer Review: Easy Slicer is a great description

It is very disappointing to wait a year for my pineapples to mature, only to screw it up when I attempt to cut it. I used this device for the first time today, in seconds I determined which of the three cutters to use, cut off the top (to replant for next year) and then slice. Unbelievably easy, with the added bonus of a very decorative drink cup :~)
I might be gadget crazy (many say that I am), but this is one of those that even if you only buy (or grow) the occassional pineapple, you will be happy with the results and you will be able to enjoy your pineapple in seconds.
