Bought one of these slicers because my daughter was buying cut pineapple at the local organic food store at twice the price of a whole pineapple. How hard could it be to cut a pineapple? Not hard at all. Cut the top off and depending on the size of the pineapple, pick the size slicer and away you go. I thought since the outside was so hard you would need a lot of pressure to cut the inside. Fooled me. So easy to cut and clean up the slicer. If I do not need the hull of the pineapple for drinks or putting the cut pineapple in for cute serving, I cut the pineapple in half for easier release of the slicer.
Loved it so much, gave one as a gift. Need a gadget for cutting pineapple, this is the one to buy with the 3 sizes.

Bought the Pineapple Slicer for a birthday gift for someone who eats pineapples frequently. Overall, it is a pretty nifty gadget! All you do is cut off the top of the pineapple, select the appropriate size slicer and insert it in the middle of your cut and twist away! It slices neat rings quickly and easily. However, it's important to use the right size slicer because a lot of the fruit part could go to waste if you use a slicer too small. Also you lose some of the juice from the pineapple. But...after you cut out all the fruit part you have a nice decorative hollow pineapple. You could use this at a party or for decoration. For the price I think it's a good buy. Less hassle of cutting up the pineapple yourself.Customer Review: This is terrific!

This wonderful tool is a must for anyone who likes fresh pineapple. It works! I've had mine for over a year and use it often. It is sturdy (the handle has never pulled out when pulling the sliced and cored pineaple out of the shell). It is fast and easy to use. It does require some strength in your hand to push down and turn, so if you have arthritis it may be a bit hard. I love having the shell of the pineapple to put melon balls and pineapple chunks in for for display. I like being able to chose from 3 sizes of slicers. I was skeptical at first but when I found out how easy it is and how well it works I bought 6 more for gifts. This device is very effective in slicing out a pineapple. It's easy to use, and lets you quickly finish what can sometimes be a "time consuming and messy" task.
I read from other reviews about wastage. In my experience, there isn't much wastage. And even if there is, you should consider buying this because it's so cheap, and it comes handy at times when we're just not in the mood to cut-out a pineapple.
I'd recommend you buy the 3-piece model. You'll mostly use the medium piece (which is what you get in the single-piece model). Some pineapples are bigger (haven't come across one small enough to use the third piece), and having a 3-piece will minimize wastage.

I really liked this little gadget. It comes with 3 blade sizes for small to larger pinapples and this is a plus. We grow our own pineapples and sometimes they are smaller so the smallest blade works best and then there are those larger ones so you can use the big blade.
It is so easy and quick to prepare a pineapple with this. It really does go right through it with minimal effort and it makes nice even slices. It sure beats using a knife and trying to slice off just the right amount of the outside without wasting it and then getting all those eyes off of it. This wasn't very expensive and rates up there as one of the top kitchen gadgets that really is worth the money.
