I had seen this product on QVC and thought wow that's neat. I went online to purchase and decided to price compare shop first. I found it cheaper at Amazon-- which I find A LOT! I placed my order and received it shortly then after. When it arrived I told my son (age 14) that I had bought it for him. He loves fresh pineapple, but I was the one that would prepare it for eating--I never looked forward to the mess on my counter as I would do this! I bought a pineapple and let him go at it! What a success! It worked wonderfully. It left the core in the pineapple shell and there were no 'eye' pieces on the eating part like I would tend to leave when I used a knife. On QVC they showed using the shell as a drink holder or as a vase for an outdoor get together. Thought those were neat ideas... but we are just enjoying the fresh pineapple!Customer Review: Mangles the pineapple!! Lousy directions! Messy, too!

I read all the positive reviews and bought this thing. I've tried it several times, thinking it would get easier to use, but each time I end up with shredded pineapple -- NOT nice rings like the pictures. I checked the directions again to see what I was doing wrong. The directions are pictures only!!!
In one picture in the directions, they show you tipping the pineapple sideways as you drill into it. I tried that and the pineapple juice spilled on the counter.
Then they show the rings (ha!) sliding off the drill-type part. Well, the mangled bits of pineapple are stuck in the opening and you have to push it out.
I wish this worked but it hasn't so far for me. The only positive thing is that, with effort and mess, you can end up with an empty pineapple which is cool-looking. I hope I can return it.

If you love fresh pineapple, this is the tool to get. I just tried mine today. It was so easy and great. In under 30 seconds you'll be done. Cut the top of the pineapple, use the appropriate size slicer and core right through. One thing: If you want to save the outside shell, gauge the height of the pineapple and where on the slicer column to stop so you don't cut all the way completely through. I'm glad I choose the set of 3 rather than the one with only the med. size cutter. This allowed me to use the larger size which left virtually no edible pineapple on the sides to have to manually cut/scoop out of the pineapple I had. Its so easy compared to the standard manual method of slicing up a pineapple. You can bet I'll be eating more fresh pineapple now that I don't have to hassle with cutting it the old fashion way.Customer Review: Pineapple Easy Slicer

Vacu Vin Pineapple Easy Slicer is supberb. What I like about this item, you have 3 different sizes to choose from. All pineapples are not the same size. When I first use my pineapple slicer, I was so suprised how it worked. The pineapple comes out in a nicely shaped ring and at the bottom of the pineapple you still have your juices, which is delicious. I used the body of the pineapple as a fruit bowl. Filled it with strawberries, watermelon, grapes and pineapples, it made a lovely show for my table setting. I would recommend this item to everyone. I was tired of losing all of my pineapple using a knife, you cut away too much of the fruit. Also, I find it too dangerous using a knife because the skin is so hard. This Pineapple slicer works Great! I just used this morning on 2 fresh pineapples and it was amazingly quick and easy. I was a little apprehensive of the plastic cutting blades but it was no trouble at all. It is great that it comes with 3 different size cutter blades. I used the largest one and it was like a hot knife through butter. I can only image that they get even easier to use as you move to the smaller blades. The cutter left the core in the middle of the "rind" and easily removed only the best part of the meat in nice manageable rings. Just like in a can of Pineapple rings except a 100% more delicious.
It is crazy that I would be so enthusiastic about a Pineapple slicer, but after using this baby One Time, you would be too.
Fresh Pineapple is back on the menu!
