My family & I have always loved fresh pineapple but I avoided buying it because of the difficulty of slicing it. No more, because this pineapple slicer is great! I just received this item and used it right away. It is very sturdy and worked great, cutting up a medium pineapple with ease. The slices did not come out in rings but that doesn't matter to us...the chunks are just fine. I highly recommend it!

This cutter works great. Cuts just as well as a metal one (My sister bought one of these from Crate/Barrel) but has the advantage of being bigger. If you get one of these that is too small, you end up leaving a lot of the fruit along the walls of the husk. I have so far only used the largest size of the 3 that came in the box since that seems to be the size of pineapple my supermarket sells. I ordered the vacuvin pineapple corer after seeing one at a friend's house. I couldn't believe how easy it made slicing a pineapple. And not only the ease of use, I swear it makes the pineapple taste better! It retains all the juice and the pineapple tastes like heaven. This has got to be one of the best gadgets I've ever bought! The only advice I have is to apply lots of pressure as you're twisting. The pressure ensures that your pineapple slices are nice and thick. I've found that it works better if you have someone holding the pineapple for you, but it's still easy to work by yourself. You will have perfect spiral sliced pineapple in a matter of a couple of minutes with this pineapple slicer. You will also have a nice pineapple "shell" that can be used to fill with a fruit salad. There is almost no waste and no "eyes" in your pineapple. If you place the pineapple in a bowl while slicing it, the juice will be retained. It is safe for a child to do! Great gift--buy several.
