Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Vacu Vin Coffee Saver Starter SetCustomer Review: Can someone who already owns a set tell me this? Summary: 5 Stars
Please tell me whether or not the canister-container can be activated-vacuumed by a Vacu Vin WINE handle? By that I mean may I successfully apply a WINE thing as a vacuum-forming tool to the COFFEE canister. The reason that I ask is that perhaps I could get coffee canister REPLACEMENT unit (ASIN B00005AS53), costing less than the whole set, and "make do" (get results) by applying depressurization/vacuum with B00004SAF4. I know this sounds desperate (rrreally cheap), but I have better things to do with my money than waste it on TWO hand-tools (assuming that one handle can work with both the COFFEE canister and also the bottle of WINE). I don't know a Customer Service # of Vacu Vin (otherwise I'd pester them directly). Awaiting RSVP.
Description of Vacu Vin Coffee Saver Starter SetOnce exposed to air, ground coffee quickly looses its flavor and aroma. The vacuum pump extracts the air from the Vacuum Coffee Saver container so that the flavor and aroma of the coffee will be kept fresh. For preserving the flavor and aroma of ground coffee, this container replicates the vacuum-sealed package the coffee (or beans) comes in. After opening the package, simply pour the coffee into the container, place the pump on the lid's rubber stopper, and pump the air out of the container. When coffee is needed, pinch the stopper and remove the lid. Then reseal by pumping the air out again. The plastic container holds about 1/2 pound of ground coffee and stands 5 inches high (without the lid). While it's ideal for coffee, the container is perfect also for any food that loses freshness quickly when exposed to air, such as chocolate, crackers, and nuts. For cleaning, the food saver can be dismantled easily. --Fred Brack
