Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Vacu Vin 4882350 Stainless Steel Pineapple Easy SlicerCustomer Review: So easy my kids use it. Summary: 5 Stars
This is kind of expensive, although I got it at a great price from Amazon. If you love pineapple, but can't stand using a knife to cut it or the mess, this utensil is for you. Although there is a plastic version I recommend the sturdiness of the stainless steel version. We will have it forever. It is so easy to use and mess-free; my 11 year old daughter has become the official family pineapple slicer! Plus you can use this pineapple slicer to create easy tropical drink "cups" using the pineapple shell when you avoid cutting through the bottom of the pineapple!
Customer Review: For every pineapple, turn, turn, turn Summary: 5 Stars
This is one nifty pineapple corer/slicer. Slice the top off of the pineapple, place the center of this device on the core of the fruit, and start turning. In a few seconds time, you've got a sliced and cored pineapple. This metal version works very well. It practically glides through the pineapple. My teenagers like it so much that they are going through 2 to 3 pineapples per week! The only thing to be aware of is that it is difficult to store. The slicing knife's diameter is about the same depth of my kitchen drawer.I have to fiddle a bit to get it to fit.
Customer Review: Vacu Vin pineapple slicer Summary: 4 Stars
About 30 seconds was all it took to peel, core, and slice a whole pineapple in one easy step. Just turn the handle until it reaches the bottom of the fruit, and the job is done. It's best though, for medium size pineapples, as there is a about 1/4" thick wall of fruit still attached to the skin. Just scrape (if you want) and eat before you discard the skin. The stainless feels strong, the plastic handle has a push button release. Easy clean up too. A must for every kitchen---too bad I just found out about this handy tool, but I will be buying these as gifts.
Customer Review: Really great product. Summary: 5 Stars
I had my doubts about this slicer, but because pineapple is one of my very favorite foods, and trying to somehow render a pineapple edible is one of my very least favorite activities, I thought I'd give it a try. I was amazed at how easily this thing cut into the flesh of the pineapple, requiring very little effort. I inserted it a bit crooked the first time, leaving some of the core attached to the outer spiral, but I think with a bit of practice it will work beautifully. I'd highly recommend this slicer to anyone who hates cutting pineapple as much as I do.
Customer Review: pineapple time saver Summary: 5 Stars
I like to spend my time eating and enjoying a pineapple rather than toiling over it as I cut away the rough exterior and separate the hard core. Just cut the top off the pineapple, position the Vacu Vin over the core and begin turning. The steel blade cuts easily while it drills down. If you stop before it pushes out the bottom, and pull up the catch, there is a fair amount of juice left inside that is pure sweetness. I will never go back to the manual way after using the Vacu Vin. It is a time saver and not messy to use. You'll be happy you bought this.
